Ok, so now I'm bummed...

Following on my "Ok, so I'm scared" thread from the other day... my first IOP order seems to have fallen through as the rep I was communicating with has stopped communicating. Last night he was going out to dinner and wrote that he'd answer my logistical questions after he got home or this morning then write back to me and I never heard back. I pinged him in email and via text messaging and nothing. Not sure why - but looks like the transaction went south. Frustrating! Is this a semi-common kind of thing?

@markstar , give it a little more time this is the week end after all. Try not to be too aggressive with the emails, you don't want to labeled a PIA, but I have never done business with this vendor. Good luck

I'm not familiar with this sort of thing, but to be on an e-mail personal level of "I'm going out to dinner now and I'll get back to you tomorrow" is SOP.

What's the time change? Was it dinner time?

@markstar Don't be bummed, considering your order is COD..You mention you need your order by september, so one can assume this a far east vendor..
The hell with them, find a better vendor, a legit website that can have your things in short time.
With some research you can surely find what you need in the public forum..
Personally, i wouldn't waste my time chasing any website or vendor..
They should be chasing you....

That is completely unprofessional! He should have ignored your email and responded later or responded at that moment as he was at the computer.

You can look online for the exact time difference but I call the British Isles 5 or 6 hours ahead of the East Coast. Basically when were having lunch they are having dinner. I think emails might include a time stamp from the destination. I just realized I have no idea where that person was emailing from so maybe this info on the British Isles was useless!? Good luck!

@markstar didn't a "reputable senior" give you this vendors info? Maybe contact them and see if they can "help"?

Yeah, I'm trying to chill @Allycat , but the guy was communicating a lot (on his own volition) then just stopped. Weird. But good advice and I appreciate it. BTW, what is "PIA"?

@BobbyGee , he texted me first... in order to place an order I had to fill out a short form with my cell# and email address. The contact phone # they had listed doesn't work and the senior member who had given me a little info on this site said the # hadn't worked in a long time but that the site had been reliable, if expensive. I'm not sure if filling out a form like that is out of the ordinary or not.

Hi @markstar , PIA Pain in the arss... not at all suggesting you are! Some of these vendors are ruthless, just be careful. I have heard of people filling out forms, I personally have not. Too paranoid. Good luck.

Oh... thanks @Allycat - yeah, each thing I do is new so I'm not sure what's "normal" or odd. But getting input and help (like yours) is very helpful. Thanks! The more I find out the more I can tell how to proceed. But I'm still pretty much feeling sophomoric here.

markstar, I wouldnt be worried. Email communication with most vendors are decent at best. BI or SY vendors especially dont like to email back & forth a ton usually.

Plus your order is for COD so if it doesnt some it doesnt come & your lose is zero. Except for your time of course.

I think you'll be fine though ... Good Luck with it

If you dont get shipping info within the next 3-5 days I would look elsewhere & go with a different vendor

What you're going through is entirely normal for the first couple of times, it will get easier.

I have never in 8 years had an iops send me e-mail that contained much more than a few sentences and definitely never filled out any forms. Never once has one been on a personal level to that extent so that would make me a bit skeptical. That being said if it is COD there is not really any risk. Why not move forward with him and another vendor and if he comes through great if not no big deal. Not sure where you are ordering from but most iops I deal with are far more responsive to e-mail overnight US time since it is business day for them at that time. If I send out an e-mail during the day I never expect a response until I wake up the next day due to time difference.
