    Default New Member Introduction Template-suggested

Mods/ Drboris, If I'm over- reaching please let me know.

Here is my humble suggestion for a template, designed for newbie posters and their first post.

"hello, my name is xxx and I am here because I suffer from xxxxx. I have been diagnosed by xxx and have tried xxxx and xxx, but I still and having trouble. I would love to hear from people with the same diagnosis for some advice."

At leat this would give noobs an idea what a good way to get started rather than jumping into the middle. Sorry f this post seems presumptuous on my part, but its either this or maybe we can ask the mods to copy partuculary well don intros by real newbies to a "Best of " thread.

I think a lot of new people in particular won't be comfortable sharing that much info right up front, just my two cents. I'm in complete agreement that something should change, just not sure if that's it.

So, as a newbie myself, is there etiquette for posting that goes beyond being polite and following forum rules? Would the more established members prefer that newbies don't post as much? I thought by speaking up in the forum I could maybe find a place to fit in where I didn't have to hide the other secret side of my life where I take pills. I guess if there is unspoken etiquette, I would rather know than commit a faux-pas and be that jerk annoying everyone.

@Tempted this isn't db or topix post as you wish to. Just follow forum guidelines, read rules, and enjoy your time while you're here.

This subject relates to other stuff, nothing for you to worry about. As far as sharing experiences with drugs, there's sections for that. You will find that recreational experiences are not discussed too much, this isnt erowid... If its pertinent to discussion you can say whatever but this isn't he sort of place to brag about taking 20 Xanax bars in 5 hours just because you weren't sure if they were real, that sorta stuff

@Tempted I am sure you are fine. Seniors get frustrated when new members don't read the forum rules and come in with their first post asking (sometimes aggressively) where to get their meds, often times controlled substances that are not allowed to be discussed in the general forum. Honestly, if you read the forum rules, everything you know should be in there. It explains what cannot be discussed and the general "etiquette" for posting. And believe me, if you were being that jerk, you would know by now.

A spontaneous 1st post says so much about a newbie. It may range from''hey I need XXXX please mail legit source asap'' to '' I've been reading much before posting and I'd like to congratulate.....'' It should be a matter of common sense after all, just like when you're at somebody's place for the first time. Some people just don't grasp it and come out as arrogant and unpolite. It would be so easy to go through some posts and maybe read barkingmad and other's concern about how things are going or just ''feel'' the atmosphere at PR... We as members have the power to click helpful and should use it accordingly...no thumbs up for smartasses.

Just my 2 cents as a Noobie. I fully understand what @barkingmad is saying. Barkingmad was one of the first to welcome me to PR. After a couple weeks of reading and getting my feel, I think I made an appropriate first post. I do not think I would have been comfortable posting all those facts the first time. Hell, I'm not even comfortable talking about all of that with my family, that is why I'm here. From what I gather, imo, is that a first post may tell you all you want (or need) to know about someone! Let a new member's post tell you where they are coming from so you know, as Seniors, whether to accept or ignore this person. Just my thoughts.....

You all raise very valid and well thought out positions. I guess the reason I chose that wording was to hopefully accomplish two things; one, give newbies that we deal wit OPs as a way to get relief, not to get high (hence hinting through outing the problem theyre having) and two, give the group a chance to humanize the poster and possibly suggest coping mechanisms they may not have thought of. It gets easy just chucking pills down your throat every day, until the day you realize you can't stop doing it.

This is the main reason I really like this forum. I'll admit i found this site searching for ways to get pain Meds. But since being on here I've weaned from a 5/day 7.5 hydro habit (legit script for a spinal compression fracture that was recently discontinued by my doc) to 250mg tramadol habit (yesterday). I know I am **really* new here, and that things aren't always going to be perfect, but I think if I hadn't stopped by this forum.....well for one, I would have been scammed 300 bucks, thanks @kmontayne , but I would also be either back to the habit, poor, or going crazy. Reading throughnthe forum makes me feel better in general.

I think the idea or intent of the OP was to discourage
new members in their initial posts from whining about the 60 posts, 30pts,&
2 month membership and/or "Where can I get Xanax cheap?"
This has been seen a lot lately as more members join this forum and
leads to long threads admonishing the OP which seems counter productive.
I think the mods @kmontayne @tinmuning @Kris are working on it

@Tempted , I am celebrating my third day with 1/4 dosages of my pain meds (still taking the anti-anxiety as prescribed), but the people are the real resource here. I can't tell you how many private messages I've received from people just saying "dude, you should go back and edit that post" back in the beginning instead of dropping a bomb on me in the public forum. I would LIKE to believe that people could see from my post I meant no harm, wasn't just looking for a fix, but had to deal with my pain and anxiety and needed help. Just as many made such simple suggestions when I was worrying about taking "extra to handle the rough days". One of these wonderful people suggested that if I THINK its a rough day, take the regular dosage and wait two hours and I'll be damned if that didn't work.

I get rather passionate because of the people here, I admire Billy because he speaks his mind and calls BS when he sees it. Is he a bit rough? Sure sometimes, but sometimes people like me need a kick in the ass. The one thing I DON"T doubt are his intentions. Kmontayne has been a great source for guideance, as have so many others.

That is why in nearly every post I point out this isnt really about the meds. It just isn't. It's about WHY we need the meds, how to get them IF we need them, but I firmly believe that 75% of us are trying to stop relying on them if we can. I"m not ashamed to say that I love these folks; they've returned my hope and my belief that I can eventually get through a life without dulling my brain with meds. In my opinion, the place should be called "The Pharmacy Reviewer and Chronic Condition Suport Group"; a title that more aptly describes what it has become for many of us.

Perhaps a questionnaire would be better instead of a template? All new members of the forum could receive a message (or see one on the "news" bar on the main page of the forum) with a link to a thread with the template or questionnaire and forum rules that are exceptional to PR. @drboris , please share your thoughts on this.

@Kris , I LOVE that idea! That way, unlike the template approach, people could choose why they are here etc without having to go into details. Kudos to you guys in general on the job you do monitoring the boards. Not sucking up, just saying thanks.

Good question. I know I made some mistakes without even realizing it. Maybe I wasn't sensitive enough to the forum rules, or I stepped on some toes, but I didn't do it on purpose and I got a lot of backlash! Hah.

To be fair, I think a lot of people come on here MOSTLY to find out how to acquire medication online. I mean, the name of the website IS Pharmacyreviewer. Let's be honest. But the problem is that when new members post about how to get pills or what pharmacies are best, sometimes the older members get upset. I know that people got upset at me for talking too much about getting Tramadol online and how to do it, and not talking about much else. I am still trying to prove that I'm here to give advice as much as I am to receive it. Not sure how that's going, but I'm trying, and obiding by the forum rules as best I can.

Long story short, The advice to newbies section in the forum *is* very helpful. I would add though, being a pretty new member myself, that newbies steer clear of talking just about what pills they want and where to get them, and nothing else, if you don't want to fall into the trap that I did. Because that seems to piss people off. And try to offer people advice if you feel like you have something valuable to say, which you probably do!

This is a great forum all in all, and I really like it here.

@Tempted --I have a compression fracture too! From a horse-riding accident. I was fox hunting and was bucked from my horse and onto the ground; fell right on my back. Interestingly though, my doctor only ever has given me Tramadol. haha. You say you only take 4 Tramadols a day now? Congratulations. That's 4 less than me. I love my Trams.

Glad you were able to find some help on here. It really is a wealth of information if you take the time to look. I'm awaiting my first order from an IOP, and am pretty confident about it because I was able to find a lot of positive reviews on here about it before I placed my order!

I agree. I mentioned something to that effect up there ^ somewhere. Pharmacyreviewer.com would seem to be the name of a website that's only really devoted to how to obtain meds online, whereas this site has a lot more than just that to offer. And, to be fair, it can be a little confusing for new members. I came on here thinking it was totally OK to ask some questions and say some things I probably shouldn't have, just because the name of this forum led me to believe that it was mostly about getting meds....now I see that is not the case....of course.

Heyy! my name is Aeyy! I am here, because I am trying to kick opiates for good, I know this isn't rehab or and "drug" post forum, but I feel that what I have is a disease and all the positive feedback I get will help me, even the negative, this is my second day off the opiates, I had to buy suboxone and have been on it for 2 days, it works really well, I really need help finding how to buy suboxone or methadone online for I might be on these meds for 2 or 3 years, because thats how long i used opiates for, they make you really sick and have physiologically damage me, so even after the sickness I still want it, and the suboxone and the methadone this is my first time trying it and it works! I am so happy to be on the road to kicking opiates for good =)! My problem is I've never ordered any meds online. I found a forum where people posting are trying to sell the methadone and the suboxone, but I am affraid it will be fake and when I get it, it wont work, and I'll relapse and have to use again. Or if I order from one of the pharmacy sites it will be fake....help!!
