Propecia/MPB Question
After discovering that I had MPB, I decided to obtain a prescription for Propecia (a drug used to maintain/slow the process of male pattern baldness). However, after being on it for 2 weeks, I have noticed a substantial increase in shedding. I have done a very fair amount of research and have yet to find a very credible source as to whether this is a normal occurrence with the drug propecia or not. Is shedding normal on propecia or could this possibly be Telogen Effluvium? Should I continue to take propecia? Thanks in Advance

I've been on Propecia for about 6 years now and it has work for me. I noticed a little bit of shedding I just can't recall how soon it happen after I started the drug. If you want to save on Propecia do what I do, I search on line a Canadian Pharmacy and order the Generic for Proscar which is exactly the same drug (Finesteride) but it comes in 5mg pills that I divide into 4ths with a cutter and take one everyday. You'll save $$$$ hundreds! taking an extra .25 mg do not harm you, in fact some guys get a prescription for Propecia with 2mg because they have a serious hairloss problem. Regular Propecia pill 1 mg $1.45 Regular Proscar pill 5 mg $1.35 you do the math. Continue to take it at least for 3-6 months and see what happens. Let your doctor know. Best of luck!

most hair loss treatments have a "shedding phase" where old hairs fall off making room for newer healthier ones
