Default Just a "Me and Joe" story on hair loss -possible herbal "cure"

So, I don't remember where, but a few years ago, I read something that said that testosterone was a big reason for hair loss and that saw palmetto was a good "cure."

I do know that saw p is a good "cure" for prostate, but don't have that issue.

Anyway, used the stuff for two years, no result. Read something else that said that beta-sitosterol actually worked better than saw palmetto for prostate problems.

Decided, what the hell. I tried the Beta Sitosterol. Been using since November (it is now March) and have a big improvement in both thickness and "regrowth" of lost hair. And gray color seems to have toned back a bit and more black.

Anyway, seems to have worked for me.

    @Ranger
what makes you aware of no impending prostrate trouble, if I may be so bold as to ask? Is your hair loss related to alopecia areata?

You may have stumbled onto a good treatment for both hair loss and prostate heallth

@betsky My source for knowing that I have fine prostate health is my friendly old MD, who just did the dreaded exam last month.

I guess, you could say that by taking saw palm. for two years, and now the Beta-Sis, I may have prevented any prostate problems. But I won't say that

If course, in terms of real evidence, you can't say the Beta-Sis did anything for me at all, except anecdotally...which is why I titled this post as "me-joe."

In terms of what the hair loss is related to, got me....may be from pulling it out in frustration when pharmacy forum gets attacked with malware/misdirects. I would prefer to think it is all that manly testosterone circulating...

Very interesting. I'd heard of the Saw Palmetto remedy before, but never Beta Sitosterol. I may just have to pick some up.

I also keep hearing great reviews about Biotin supplements and their help in preventing hair loss. My brother swears by it.

im not being "wide" or cheeky even. I had normal hair, i had to get it cut every
three weeks. Total pain in the butt, When all of a sudden i see a pair of hair clippers for £15 so now i save money and shave it myself. let me tell you it looks bad-ass. I look younger, i don't need to buy product for my hair. believe me i didn't think i would ever do something like that but lo and behold. I also think people take me more serious now

    FWIW -
I'd thought I'd bring up a slightly aged thread to add my $0.02...
A few years ago, my hair was falling out to the point where I no longer needed a haircut, I just took a shower instead.
I started taking saw palmetto and my hair loss stopped in its tracks. I didn't grow any new hair, but I didn't lose any either.
This is just anecdotal info of course, and a there are a lot of reasons for hair loss, but I was losing hair, started taking this and my hair loss stopped.
Pretty cheap, and no sexual side effects, so what's not to love?

I've been taking 300mg of saw palmetto twice daily for four years now, and no man boobs.

I haven't grown any female boobs, either.

But I do bark at parked cars.
