Cutting Proscar as a more economical alternative to Propecia....
Anyone did this and gotten good results?

Are there any drawbacks (besides having to cut and not getting the exact dose)?

I heard it works...I personally had too many side effects from Proscar (maybe finesteride in general)...but I understand most people don't.

I got a pill cutter, and cut it in four

Check out www.hairlosstalk.com

great info

Actually cutting Proscar/5mg into quarters "roughly 1mg" will do the job. The problem is that the crushed Finasteride is highly teratogenic & abortificiant to the fetus. Finasteride can be absorbed rapidly through the skin.

I prefer not to do that if there is a pregnant, or waiting-to-be pregnant lady around. If not, no problem with that & be sure to use only one pill-cutter and keep your medication in a safe place.

Wish that helps,

There's a site which enumerates reason why taking propecia is better that cutting Proscar tablets. It's in one of the site Giovanni mentioned. Here's the exact site: http://www.baldingblog.com/2007/05/24/why-take-propecia-rather-than-cut-proscar-into-pieces/

I've been very careful in cutting the medication. Thank you for everyone's replies. The website is very helpful.
