Anyone had to use heparin or baby aspirin to prevent a miscarriage
I am 5 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I have had 2 miscarriages. My last one was at the end of February. Test results showed that I have low "S" proteins, so my blood is more prone to clotting. My doctor recommended that I use baby aspirin and has also given me a prescription for progesterone suppositories.

I had looked up blood clotting disorders during pregnancy. I read that a lot of people used both heparin AND baby aspirin.

Did anyone here use just baby aspirin? What was the outcome? Would you recommend I bug my doctor enough to get an appointment to be prescribed the heparin shots?

I use Aspirin. I was told after my second miscarriage that I had a clotting disorder too. Antiphospholipid Syndrome. I thought just like you, I wanted to bug someone until I found out a concrete answer on treatment. They sent me to maternal fetal medicine. My perinatologist says that there is no improvement in numbers for decreased risk of miscarriage with the addition of heparin. But that is tailored just for my labs~ every case is different. So if I were you, I would do just that- get a referral to a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, and also get involved with an online group of women in your position. What you have is typically called, Protein S deficiency. Good Luck and get a copy of your labs, the women in the online groups will want to pour over them.

i am currently 17 weeks pregnant and I am on low dose of aspirin (100mg daily) since the day of my embryo transfer. I had a miscarriage last year and before that we were trying to conceive for 4 years, with unexplained infertility. I was told by the Doctor at the antenatal clinic last week that alot of the women who are pregnant are on aspirin, even if you dont have tendencies for blood clotting, being pregnant thickens the blood and any woman is more prone to clotting. If this happens then the placenta cannot form properly due to lack of blood supply, therefore miscarriage is likely. She said it is good for most pregnant women to be on low dose of aspirin. the only other thing I did different this successful pregnancy is take progesterone pessaries. After 4 years of trying I would like to think that either the aspirin and/or progesterone have helped me to finally sustain a viable pregnancy.

i was put on baby aspirin for the same reason. when i was around 12 weeks my dr ran more blood tests and based on the fact my lvls were low but still in the normal range he decided against blood thinners.
im at about 22 weeks now and the baby's hb has been normal up till now, at first a little high, but its gotten a bit lower.
