I have blood clots in my right leg, I started taking two medications yesterday, Lovenox injection & Warfarin
My question is, what else is recommended that I should do, in term of rest / exercises is it real important that I don't walk around much and so on? My Doctor just said to take it easy. But what does that really mean?

Thank you for your help.

Enjoy your day

Follow what your doctor has said to the letter.

I know some people on here will be adequately able to offer good advice, however you have no way of knowing who actually knows what to tell you and who just thinks something sounds like a good idea. This is in no way intended to be an insult to the poster above me, it's just common sense. Use Y!A to ask about hair care or a pimple, or your dog, but not about a potentially life threatening condition.

I would honestly steer clear of taking advice on something so serious from strangers on the internet. If your doctor said "Take it easy" - ask him exactly what "easy" means, does he mean walk around at home? you can go to the shop? does he mean you can drive? or does he mean sit in a nice armchair and wait until you're all clear.

My old partner had a DVT and PE and we had all kinds of instructions to follow after he was released from hospital, blood thinners, clinic every two days to check his bloods until he was stable, pressure stockings to wear...but the doctor was there to help us if we needed help. Yours will be there for you too.

Don't rub or massage your legs even if they ache.
Take your medications exactly as ordered.
Follow up with your physician for ultrasounds or blood work , whatever they order.
Do not skip any doses of your lovenox injections!
Do not do any strenous exercise, but you are fine to walk around.
If you have any questions, call your Dr.'s office to clarify, I don't know what your Dr. ordered exactly.
Do you have a history of clots, was this after a surgery?

Well, for one thing, keep the affected limb elevated like prop a pillow under it when you're lying in bed. Avoid prolonged sitting or bed rest. You can relieve pain by applying warm, moist heat to the area. Exercise is more for prevention of DVT rather than management. However, unless your doctor advise you not to, you can try to walk regularly. Walking is thought to improve circulation in the affected leg and may help to reduce your risk of further DVT.
