Default Fake Pills for Repeat Customers?

I'm starting to wonder if online pharmacies are sending fake pills to long-time customers.

Twice in the last 2 months I've received fake (or at least worthless) pills: Provigil from EdandMore.com, and Cymbalta from AmericaPharmacy.com

The latter was especially bad because I had significant withdrawal effects because the drug wasn't real. (And my doctor *had* sent them a prescription.) They've giving me a severe runaround about a refund. (I haven't asked EdandMore.com yet.)

I've used both companies at least 3 times, with no problems until the most recent orders. Now I don't know who to trust.

    Any thoughts?

I'm new to these forums.... Thanks.

    Well I don't know if they would but I saw this;

It is an article about drug shortages.

@phonon , I hate to admit it but in this arena of Internet commerce in which we participate, nothing surprises me anymore after 11 years experience with it. And the problem is that there isn't much of anything we can do about it. If I got some bunk pills from someone I knew, then I could just go over to his crib and get in his face about it but what are we gonna do here except one thing which is warn others which is better than nothing but still leaves us vulnerable.

Since (fortunately) EdandMore.com had not yet cashed my check, I put a stop on it.

I called their customer service, who seemed surprised that my batch (Spierx Modifinil 200 mg, batch number E56611014) might be bad, or that I would cancel my check. They asked me to mail it back to them (PO Box 729, Victoria Mahe, Rep of Seychelles), but I'll decline.

This was my 5th order with them, and the first that was suspicious. I won't do business with them again, and I would encourage others to be wary as well.

The stopped check fee was $15, which is better than losing the full cost of the order, $118.75.

Doing the stop check was a good idea

I know its a pain in the but, but I think it would be a good idea to put a few of these pills in a regular envelope (postage will only be $1 or $2 so not a huge loss for you) and send them back to give them a chance to admit the problem exists. They may still be a good pharmacy...

Many of the good IOPs have a policy where they say "We will ship an alternate brand if you are not satisfied." Point being even the IOP's acknowledge that their quality control is unable to weed out all of the ineffective/fake medications out of the supply chains. This may not be edandmore's fault (I'm saying nothing of their customer service of course).

Being a long-term and/or good customer is sometimes, unfortunately, determined by the vendor. And too often do the "not so reputable" IOPs try to pass off fakes in hopes that people don't notice. But there could be other factors that could contribute to the sending of fake pills (ie: testing Customs, greedy drop shippers, etc).

Also, to strengthen the point that @juniperpansy , definitely skim through the threads in this area of the forum for tips on how to spot fake medications from the alternative brands.
Throw a pepper into the air. If it fails to come down, you've gone mad, so trust nothing.

I had a similar experience with this IOP as well and was amazed at their response. When I reported the fakes, they neither denied my finding, nor did they request a return of the fakes! They simply stated that a replacement from a different manufacturer would be sent. So I was equally amazed when the replacements were fakes, too!!! As many have already stated here, I was forced to resort back to my trusty-rusty more expensive IOP.

It seems this IOP, as do many others, exercise poor quality control measures, which is very unfortunate to the consumer. Notably, because we don't tender fake forms of payment when we place our order (at least most of us don't ;-/), so the failure to complete falls on the vendor, however we as the consumer are forced to jump unnecessary hurdles to simply be made whole, which is freakin' ridiculous when its order #3, #4 and #5...which brings me to my point.

Name them and/or blacklist them and maybe between now and never they'll get their act together or just get run out of business following behind all the other rip-off vendors and their shoddy sources.

This will be happening more and more. The best you can do is establish the best possible relationship with a vendor. I go out of my way to be someone they will respect but not be annoyed by.

I have had all the same crap but I have always had it resolved.

Personally, I would never stop payment or be aggressive towards a vendor as I do not believe the people I do business with rip me off or i would not do business with them.

Is it possible they get bad stuff? Sure.
    Sometimes orders get mixed up.
    Sometimes, they lose one.

    I stick with them.
They have been her for me for as long as I have been in internet and I am forever grateful,

Peace everybody, go for the gold. it is out there.

I very much disagree. If someone sends me a defective product -- that is, rips me off -- then I will do what I have to to protect myself and save my money.

Fortunately in this case I was able to stop payment. That's an appropriate response in the face of fraud.

I have never thinking in this way but for iop that was a good thing...send you a couple of times very good meds ...then make it sometimes bader sometimes better and your iop can steal some money if they have luck without the costumer find it out.

I had an issue once with fake pills. They looked real and came from a source I trusted. But my source had been sold a batch of fakes. And apparently the same "fakes" were sold to many trusted vendors.

My vendor made the deal right for me. But it was a wake up call for me.

There was a time when I was very careless in regard to the authenticity of the product I received and put in my body. Since that happened, I have changed my ways significantly. There are a couple products I use from "outside sources" but the majority of the meds I use are now prescribed by my primary care physician.

Too many people depend on me and I am also getting too old to be so careless.

Not feeling as "bullet proof" as I once did

A while back I received an order from an iop I had never used & when I went to take the first pill as I was putting it in my mouth I dropped it on the floor & it basically crumbled into a pile of dust. Needless to say I ditched those pills & since then I have become much more aware of what I am taking. I would never take a pill I could not use the internet to positively identify.

Have you looked at filing some kind of complaint against AmericaPharmacy.com? I'm not familiar with them, but they appear to be Canada-based and accredited by CIPA. Their US address is a mailbox in a US-Canada border town. Seeing how they're based in Canada and you actually have a prescription, you might be able to do something about this.

CIPA looks like it might be a somewhat credible organization...an academic study conducted by researchers from reputable institutions found their member pharmacies (among others) to be supposedly legit, and they have some media coverage. You could possibly file a complaint with them. But there's the chance that they're just a front for their member pharmacies, or just don't take allegations of misconduct seriously.

Or you could also look into filing a complaint with the regulatory body or industry association that regulates pharmacies in Canada. I don't know if this company is within the same oversight as a regular pharmacy (seeing how they ship meds outside of Canada), but it's worth looking into.

Oh Sugar!! Crap! I just ordered Provigil from them this week! I sent a freakin' postal MO, and now I am guessing that cash is down the drain. This was my first order EVER for meds online, and so I guess that was my first hard lesson too. CDN$130 down the drain...

Gotta spend more time on these boards before ordering again I guess. Ugh.

Anyway, now I'm at a loss for the Provigil, which I was really counting on. Can anyone help? Ugh, I'm totally bummed now. Was sooooo looking forward to picking up the post these days.
