Thyroid problems are not necessarily autoimmune related. Diseases like Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Ord's Thyroiditis are autoimmune diseases which occur because the body's own antibodies fight the cells of the thyroid while diseases such as Postpartum Thyroiditis (occurs because of the modifications made to the immune system during pregnancy) are not.

To add to what Italia9923 has said, that thyroid problems are not necessarily autoimmune disorders, the thyroid gland may have problems caused by infection, and other conditions that are not related to autoimmunity. Lack of iodine and other minerals in the diet may also cause thyroid problems. To make an accurate diagnosis of your thyroid problem, it would be best to consult with a doctor and have some lab tests done.

Hope this helps.
