How does someone contract autoimmune disease
My sister was diagnosed with autoimmune disease because her
white blood cell count keeps going lower. The doctor also wants
to test her for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Does anyone know
what can cause this ? She just turned 40 years old.

The cause of autoimmune disease is unknown but definitely, one can't get it from another person. Some say that it could be genetic, some blame environmental factors. But you won't get the disease until something around you turns on your immune system. This may include the sun, infections, drugs, or, in some women, pregnancy.
