Autoimmune disease? IBS+ Ashtma?
My mother and I were both recently hospitalized on the same night with the same symptoms.

Mine were:
difficulty breathing, ashtma
Extreme, extreme pain in my back and ribs
Nausea

My mom was also having trouble breathing, and was told it was neither her ashtma nor her heart.

She is in her mid-forties and has fibromylalgia.

I am 18, and have severe IBS.

They admitted me and ran a battery of inconclusive tests...they found that my colon was obstructed and I wasn't digesting my food. I went off my IBS diet of white breads, white pasta, and white rice, and meat--and tried to eat fruits and vegetables...

Obviously not a good idea. But I was getting sores on my lips from the lack of nutrients and was feeling really sick from just eating carbs.

I've been to a pulmonologist, a gastrointerologist, a general doctor, and now the hospital.

No one seems to have an answer as to why my body is rejecting nutrients or why my ribs are in so much pain.

WTF is wrong with me?

The best thing to do is to see another gastro. Consider seeing one out of a large hospital. Do not give up, the answer is out there. I have Lupus and it took years to get the diagnoses. Keep a journal of your sign and symptoms, meds, doctor visits, ER visits etc. Always request copies of you test and lab results for your records and to be able to produce them at other doctor visits for comparison. Good luck.

Have you been examined/tested for crohns, ulcerative colitis and celiac? If you haven't had scopes done etc...you need to get them done. They can't rule it IBS until they examine for the rest of things.

Even if you have been tested for celiac and come back negative, many people are still very sensitve to gluten. I know of many people who had a ton of success with 'fixing' their digestive issues once they went gluten free.

As well pro-biotics may help you out.

I have IBS myself, and it can cause severe pain. It seems to be one of those things that they make light of - but it is quite painful. I also have fibro, and it can contribute to a lot of pain as well.

Stay on a good diet of lots of fruit and veggies - it helps a ton.

Idk, but you sound like a drama queen. Relax! You know, you kinda sound like a major headcase, and you have some issues going on. Hospitals have pain clinics for symptoms like yours. If a patient has severe symptoms that are painful, and doctors run every test possible and can't find anything, you can sometimes be referred to a pain clinic, as you may just have an issue with illnesses, pain, and how to cope with pain. Pain clinics teach patients to deal and cope with pain in various ways if the pain is too much for the person to deal with on their own. My mom works at one. Not every hospital has one, and they're usually pretty small, but find out if your local hospitals have any, it'll be worth it.
