I am thankful for the compassion, advice and overall kindness this forum holds within. The members here are the most valuable assests I have on the internet. You can keep your facebook, its full of phoniness. Whether its a discussion of a vendor, pain, anxiety or a mere flu virus, someone has something to add that is uplifting.
I was a member of DB for over 10 years, I saw so much back biting and just plain bullying that it was becoming more intimidating to post anything for fear someone wouldnt like it. Here, we can disagree and I have rarely seen any harshness towards any other members. It has happened but we have probably the best set of moderators any forum could ask for, they too are compassionate and try to keep an open mind in all situations and actually ask if this rule or that rule would be a good option for us.
I have come to think of many members as friends (without faces) that I have to keep coming back to just make to sure they are okay with an issue they may be having. Oh and I cant forget another of my most thankful reasons for PR is Keith K Stone, he makes my day no matter what he posts. There are dozens more members that I could mention but I would be afraid to leave someone out. Keith's wit and knowledge are just a great blend, and his animations are awesome.
I wish politics could be discussed and debating as peacefully as this forum, we may gain world peace to some degree if people around the world behaved the way most do on this forum.

I love this forum because 95% of our members are smart, nice, funny, and wise. So is the mgt. I don't know how we got so lucky but we did. And we have members willing to post about their OP experiences which is critical to many of us.
I love this forum because posting allows me to exorcise my demons about myself and my daughter to an audience and not just to myself. I don't think keeping a diary or a blog to a bunch of strangers would provide me w/the same relief.
This board keeps my stress level down and even most importantly, allows me to feel useful. There are so many things I can not do anymore, but damn it, I know doctors and a fair amount about medicine. I am the FIRST to admit I am not always right but I usually do pretty well on getting folks thinking. Survivors, like @Gammachick said.
OK, now I am gonna get all sappy. Time to stop.
Most Sincerely,
Fire

I'm thankful for this forum because I learn something new everytime I visit. That is one of my priotities in life is to learn something new EVERYDAY. That doesn't mean that I don't forget it 5 minutes later, but what can ya do!
I'm thankful that this forum doesn't have a lot of trolls that sit around correcting my spelling mistakes, trust me I'm an exceptional spellar (yes on purpose), but Idon't type so well on my iPad.
I am only new here (shock horror looking at my post count) but i was a reader of DB for years and posted on it maybe 10 times. I find alot of peace of mind knowing there is somewhere i can come and see other people who may suffer the same and get great advice on where to look for medication.
Alot of sites are untrustworthy for buying presciption drugs and i got alot of help on DB in finding reliable ones. (sadly most of them are gone now)
also never feeling embarrased on forums is a great thing, i tend to down play any problems i feel when talking to my doctor and usually leave feel deflated.
I'm thankful that I now can stop relying on physicians I can't really afford that won't write me perscription's for what I really need.
I too am am thankful for the exact reason's Fireplaces posted earlier.
I am also thankful that site is almost never down, not sure how @drboris manages that. Usually sites have regularly scheduled outages for S/W upgrades, etc. I'll skip the technobabble.
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in...
The content is not only well organized but also well written and usually well informed. My first impression is one of surprise and excitement.

I like and am starting to love PR for the bright and well informed members and admin. I'm currently a frequent contributor on 4 forums but I find myself checking in here more and more due to the well organized spam and advert free site.
I'm sure I'll post more once I figure out all the ins and outs of PR.
For some reason some of my posts don't show up until a long while after I've logged off. Which makes it hard to converse in real time. Maybe it's because I'm used to adding helpful links to my posts. Oh well I'm still liking the site! GOOD JOB ALL!
I also really like this forum i have read about other forums but as mentioned above this is by far the most friendly and knowledgable forum and just from what i have read from senior members i can tell they definetly know their stuff and i feel like i will be learning alot of things from the members and i apologize to the admin as i posted earlier and mentioned something i was not supposed to so if they are reading this it will not happen again
I am very grateful to PR for providing so much good information.I think this is a very helpful site for pain survivors & the members are so wise & compassionate.I truly enjoy logging on & seeing that someone has a comment or likes what I have to say.It feels like a community of like minded people who are always here to help with whatever questions I may have.It seems like I get more information here than I do when I go to my doctor.

I'm really glad I have found this site. I also used to be on DB. Nothing compares than to review other people's actual experiences. There are so many sham scam sites out there. Hope this one stays true and legit
Obviously, if you stick around and play by the rules, you will find what you need medicine or pharmacy-wise. And as several people have said, you may also find support and friendship.
I have heard several people credit the admin for running such a really great board. To me, that was a given. What a lot of work we are! You have to be pretty audacious and pretty cool to even think about running a board like PR. But I don't think I really "got it" until today, when I saw a person banned for the act implying racism. You can fuss about the rules. You can even slip up once or twice. No walking on eggshells here. The mods can take criticism and even put up with a bit of bickering, if it looks like resolution can be found. And the really sweet thing is that most "crimes" can be forgiven, as long as the offenders work on change. But one thing that is always dealt with swiftly and without ado, is racism. And that makes a lot of sense to me.
It's not a matter of free speech. We NEVER have freedom to say anything we want here; or nearly anyplace else for that matter. If you start talking about conspiracies or violence in an airport, you will shortly be cuffed and escorted out. If you say hateful things at a party or in a hospital, you will be invited to leave. You know the saying, "Your personal freedom stops where the other's begins." The degree of tolerance here at PR is about as good as it gets folks. You don't know if I look like my present avatar or like Uma Thurman. I can't see what clothes you wear or if you've had a shower recently. So we judge each other only by words here. The community may be "virtual," but in a lot of ways it's more real than real life. Prejudice has no place here.
I never thought I would grow to care so much about a "virtual community." Yet, there you have it.
I'm smarter than you think you are.
I enjoy this forum because it's very well organized and moderated.
Also the requirements to join and not just be a lurker from the outside.
(meaning you must join to lurk.)
There also seems to be no snobbery from the Grand Pipsters.
Whether you have 1 pip or hundreds everyone is treated equally.
Also the vast variety of topics from pain management, IOP's, F2F,
personal issues, medications..even off topic section for those
who enjoy that area.
Well done @drboris
Thank you.![]()

I like reading this forum because of the great mix of people. The regulars I see posting here I can always recognise and I know they've been through a lot of stuff just like me. I feel like its a good family here and I really am glad I've found it.
Hugs all!
@Newguest , this is my last reference (in regards to threads I mean). I want you to see what this forum is. I really don't want you to get the wrong idea. I think your intent is good and you seem quick w/a phrase which is a good trait on the board.
Read through some of the threads on the Chronic Pain forum and on off topic too.
K, hon, my tour of the board is over. Hope I am not annoying you. I am such a Mom.

This forum is like a family to me. I have been given more support here than I have ever gotten from my real family. All of you are so big-hearted and thoughtful! I look forward to coming here everyday and seeing the caring interaction of the members on here. It means so much to me when I have a tough day. All of you are simply amazing to me!

I am new here and this jumped out at me. That is *exactly* what I am looking for.
I've looked into a number of other forums. I won't get into specifics of what has bugged me in other places I've visited, as I think that will make the first impression I leave a rather negative, judgey one.
But I think I will be very glad I have joined here, bsaed on what I have read so far. people seem to be taking charge and responsibility, and the fact that posts are written in complete, non-text-speak sentences is an added bonus!
@lucyloo - you will LOVE it here! We treat each other with respect, and most importantly, everyone here is very supportive of one another. I've only been here a few weeks and I feel at home. A warm welcome to you!
