Hi

Hey @danme. I am surprised that I am the first to welcome you. There are a few "older" members who seem to actually compete for the honors of being the first to welcome a new member.
I've only been here for around 2 months but I can tell you that this forum is much more than I had hoped for and I hope you find the same for yourself.
Take the time to look around and you'll see there are several members who are here everyday sharing insights and passing on the advice of experience. Familiarize yourself the rules and reqs, there are a few and some threads have their own pre-reqs as well. Also, take note of the sites structure and design. Knowing the site will help you not only to navigate but also to locate threads of personal interest and develop relationships with the members who frequent them. You will find the search tool invaluable for locating answers to forum specific guidelines and protocols. I know it seemed like an awful lot to go through but as I progressed along i found that they are not hinderances, but helps. They allow you to interact with other members and get a feel for PR and how this all works. If you have any questions that you can't find answers for, don't hesitate to ask.
Oh, the wheel is turning and you can't slow down...

Thanks for the Welcomes appreciate it -- I have been in Pain Management for 7 years due to a Bad neck -- I currently take Norco 10/325 and percs 5/325 but they are not really working for me anymore. My doc wont up my meds so Im kind of stuck in a really bad situation. Im at my wits end and Im sure my tolerance is up. I really need a stronger med or a ER Type med. My next appt is Tues Im going to bring it up to him again. In the mean time I've been looking for a compasionate Doctor in and around the NW Side of NJ. Any help would be appreciated.
Again thanks for the welcome
Welcome to forum. You will probably have to really stress how bad the chronic pain is messing with your daily routine. I mean REALLY stress how BAD life is. How you can't function, can't get out of bed, can't even Hardly cook a meal and then maybe just maybe the doctor will take pity on you and change things around.
Do not suggest a change in meds. Just express how bad things are. You also need to call and complain and not just at your appointments. I mens bug the piss out of the nurse to say your in so much pain.
I wish you luck and hope your doc will see how you need a change.

Thanks for the advice but Im not that kind of person Hell before I needed neck surgery I lived like this for MANY MANY YEARS and learnrd to deal with it. Since my surgery My pain is different. MASSIVE HOT SPOTS from the base of my neck down to the to 3rd of my back. But my left arm came back so Im grateful for that. My doc did try methadone with me took it for 3 mos (SIDE EFFECTS WERE TERRIBLE) and Butrans Patch which was great until I got a real bad rash and blisters from it. So Back to the Norcos and Percs. I cant say they dont work they just dont work like they used too. Im not a complainer or a Doctors Office caller type. Im very reserved. I will talk with my Doc on Tues and see what happens.
Thanks For the Input

Thanks UGAgal but I dont think going to A PM Doc and asking for Fenatanyl or any driug for that matter is a good idea. EVen though my doc trusts me Impecably I would never tell him how to do his job as I wouldnt want him telling me how to do mine
@danme, I agree that as far as getting scripted for SCHII meds, asking, suggesting, or however you word it, any specific drugs go rarely works out the way you would like. I also find it very difficult to effectively voice my personal problems, especially when I feel it makes me appear weak, or like a crybaby. That not withstanding, @UGAgal has provided what I believe is the best couse of action. It's more like giving passive direction, a way of guiding the conversation without pushing, by indicating symptoms. Communicating the difficululties and restrictions your pain causes and the changes it forces in your daily life and activities is the best advise. No matter what a patients relationship is with a doc, trying to direct your own course of medicine will, at very least, raise a few eyebrows. So always err on the side of caution. You know how it is, once something is said, you can't take it back and the damage is done.
In all relationships, whether it's with an employee, friend, or doc, I have found the most effective way to get anyone to do anything, is for them to believe it was their idea.
I wish you the best and hope you find the level of care we all wish for. Please let us know how your visit goes. Only share what your comfortable with but providing a detailed description of the conversation would not only help us to provide unbiased opinions, but can also serve as guide for further interaction for other members as well as yourself. We can all benefit from knowledge.

Sometimes directly asking a doctor can be bad but sometims it can be okay too. Depends on the level of relationship you have with your doc. I used to have a family doc who would sit and listen to whatever we had to say, if we wanted to give a suggestion for some thing we wanted to try he would listen then tell us his opinion. he never acused me or my relatives of being addicts or drug seekers because we had such a good relationship. I wish everyone could have docs like this and i wish me and my family stilll had this doc
