Default Black box under car !

I posted again due to having this in the wrong area B4..

I had a crazy story happen to a friend several years ago ..He was pulled over with all these meds in her car and of course they were RX'd to her..The coipe said they were watching her and took all the meds and put her in jail for an hour all the while pressing her to give up her source a DOCTOR LOL and also whom she was selling to.She told them to go F themselves and an hour later she was let go.. with the meds ..She thought it odd that a week B4 she found a detective badge under her car..She got all her meds back and the next day she had an odd feeling and found what looked like a black magnetic box under her car...She removed it and spoke to a lawyer..She ended up giving the box to the lawyer and one day the coppers came to retrive in the middle of the night..They looked so stupid fumbling around under the car she stated, trying to get the box that was no longer there... 2 weeks later The COPPERS came looking for the antiquity of a box and she told the detectives it is at the lawyers office and good luck..They told her they came to say they were no longer going foward with this issue either...The lawyers told the coppers they need to sign and not to use it on her again ..They agreed and they haven't ever bothered her again..Lesson she learned if in doubt look under your car..

Breaking Bad is absolutely an awesome show. Excellent writing and acting, totally addictive.

But on topic to the OP, that is kinda scary, she sounds like she had the right attitude for it though. I wonder how she came to the attention of LE in the first place, I would guess they needed a warrant for the black box, was it a GPS device?

If this involved online medication buying why did they need to GPS her goings?

    Thinking she was delivering?

I thought drug dealers had people drop by their home for pick up or what meet in a park or something.

Good info, thanks for the tip.

Would require some type of warrant, similar to a phone tap, where you don't know they are investigating you for evidence - they would still need to show probable cause.

Well if this was true, why did the dumb ass cops approach her and detain her for questioning. She woulda drove to the doctor's eventually, or a drug deal. All they had to do was wait and not tip her off. If they wanted the doctor's name, couldn't they have read it off the bottle?

You answered your own question 'dumb ass cops'. I would have kept the gps after disabling the battery of course. "what black box, huh, what??"

I think I'll chek under my car also. Love to find one. Put on some latex gloves, remove it, drive to mall, and stick it on the bottom of some soccer mom's minivan.

I doubt seriously I'll find one.

@UncleBen Good point, I'd gues I'd just run my truck over it a few times, check it for RF emissions, and leave it out on a major highway somwhere. These things must fall off occcasionaly, I cant believe they bolt them on.

You know, looking quickly at some of your links it reminds me of the Sci-Fi movie with Tom Cruise where he was part of a pre-crime unit arresting people before they even committed a crime. It was called the minority report.

That pre-crime detection is a complete joke. This is what we are spending money on?
    http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-20...ime-detection/

If my heart rate goes up and body temperature rises I must be smuggling drugs onto the plane? Or something else?

Nevermind the 10,000 medical reasons this might occur. Like maybe someone is nervous because all their bodily functions are being monitored and maybe they don't want to have their nude figure be seen by the guy behind the x-ray machine.

Now I know, before smuggling something onto a plane, I just gotta take 3 bars first. I won't have a muscle flinch, my heartrate will be steady, because I won't have a care in the world. Or maybe some beta-blockers would do. I'll cruise right through.

Meanwhile they'll be busy questioning every person who is afraid of flying, %33 of Americans, or anyone who as anxiety issues, shyness or that is stressed out.

The amount of stress that can occur in an airport is off the charts after 9/11. Long lines, extensive security checks, nervous about missing flights, delays, fear of terrorism, fear of flying, mom dragging her 3 kids through the airport, worrying about how much $ you just blew on a ticket and baggage fees, speech you have to give on your business trip, seeing your family after a long time... The list goes on.

Eye movement, Body movement, Body heat, Breathing Rate. What a joke, are they gonna have people fill out a medical history after they've been detained. So they can see if there are any other reason why someone's body might show fear.

I can just see a bunch of MS patients being held for questioning. Maybe some children who've never flown, and me every single time I fly unmedicated. Oh and African Americans and Puerto Ricans, who are more likely to exhibit systolic hypertension.

Years in development for this? Really? They've been watching too many movies. "Profiling" is already out of control, and they want to add this. This is just another justification they can lean on after an unjust search. Or a new reason to search the Arab looking guy. If I was of that descent I'd be a complete nervous wreck, walking through an american airport with everyone looking at me, just needing a reason.

Seems like every day I read about a stupid waste of money. And the part where anything mentioning the cost of this new miracle of modern technology, has been completed blacked out. Sorry to be longwinded, it just frustrating to see how little common sense is used sometimes.

It may be illegal to steal or tamper with govt property. But, unless it has 'govt property' printed on it, i am justified in assuming it was a criminal, maybe the mafia.

The govt has run amok we need a revolution pronto. We may be getting it, heard about the occupy movement? It has spread all over the world. They smugly called it the 'arab spring' when it happened over there. I call it the american spring and hope for the same results. Topple all dictators. This may not sound like me but i plan to join one of the protests soon.

Our forefathers would spin in their graves if they saw what was going on now. The last thing they wanted was another dictatorial king running things.

Is this really a true story? lol Seriously? She must of lived in Mayberry RFD, or did she have enemies? Some people can be very vindictive, it's just so sad. Maybe someone had asked her to share some of her meds with them and found it jusified to call on her, when she was smart enough to say no. I am just trying to wrap my brain around the fact this person is not a huge drug dealer? Well not even a drug dealer? What made the cops interested in her in the first place? I mean there are poor children being abused, being kidnapped, children starving, children being negelected and they want to go after someone who is prescribed some meds? Well I am glad she is okay, that is terriable to put her in jail?? Wow..jail is not nice, I hope she is doing better....

Yes this very true,l was the passanger. She was coming home from the doctors, with a bag fullof really good pain meds too.I remember them saying that they said there is no way one doc would give so many meds. The bottles had only one doctor name on them. l had to laugh, as l was getting questioned l was putting my hand in my pocket the old style 80s,must have ate 5. Needless to say l too was put in the local police jail. l just wanted to be well medicated while l awaited my fate. l too was let go within an hour, with my pocket stash, while leaving the clinker l couldn't help seeing the detective, same pic of the dick of the badge found in the drivway, with his head on his desk. l guess he was pissed, and he waisted 3 months of his time plus all our taxes with no busts. My friend told me he made somebody upset with him,and ratted him out.Rats always get theres dont they? This happened in Florida not to long ago btw. The black boxes had no visable info on them One of them had a flashing red light and small antenna. Now the gps devices r smaller l know because when u buy a car at a buy here pay here they put a gps hidden near the radio,so if u take off they can get the car back. This l know from a friend at a buy here pay here.Again lesson trust no one but your silence, because its golden, and never incrimanate one self.

Questions to all who have had black box experience.

    1. Are they magnetically attached. If not what is the method
    2. What are the most typical placement spots (e.g, undercarrige, wheel well...)
    3. How big are they in inches (H/W/L), also what color are the (I assume they are not bright orange)
    4. Do they contain C4 that LE can remotely detonate in case you find it and start screwing around with it (just kidding).

I actually was looking at buying the same model as the one featured on the TV show Breaking Bad (Excellent series by the way). This model is small and magnetic. The reason for me is to see where my wife was going out. She had an affair and I found out . now I don't trust her etc. The GPS unit is taken out of the car and plugged into another computer and then you can see where her car was on a google map. Another better idea (Cheaper) is to add the "family locator" feature on Verizon phones $ 10 a month extra. i can see in real time where she is. The GPS was $ 250 for the one that you had to remove from the car. the fancy model that transmits live is more $ .
