Default New Drug Law..Bad news for forum ?

The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday that would make it a federal crime for U.S. residents to discuss or plan activities on foreign soil that, if carried out in the U.S., would violate the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) -- even if the planned activities are legal in the countries where they're carried out. H.R. 313, the "Drug Trafficking Safe Harbor Elimination Act of 2011," is sponsored by Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), and allows prosecutors to bring conspiracy charges against anyone who discusses, plans or advises someone else to engage in any activity that violates the CSA, the massive federal law that prohibits drugs like marijuana and strictly regulates prescription medication.

"Under this bill, if a young couple plans a wedding in Amsterdam, and as part of the wedding, they plan to buy the bridal party some marijuana, they would be subject to prosecution," said Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for reforming the country's drug laws. "The strange thing is that the purchase of and smoking the marijuana while you're there wouldn't be illegal. But this law would make planning the wedding from the U.S. a federal crime."

OMG! What next from Big Brother. How are they going to enforce such a law, especially the Amsterdam wedding example? Read every US citizen's email? Of course monitoring Facebook might be easier. People share everything on there.
Glad to see it's not quite yet the law. Must go read original article.

"Under this bill, if a young couple plans a wedding in Amsterdam, and as part of the wedding, they plan to buy the bridal party some marijuana, they would be subject to prosecution," Thats the sillyest thing ive ever heard. How can they even begin to enforce that? In my opinion they should take it a little slow judging from the fact america is already prison capital of the world...I dont think they need anymore inmates to feed!

I think the wedding scenario was an example used by a dissenter to the new law before it passed the House.

    The law description:

To amend the Controlled Substances Act to clarify that persons who enter into a conspiracy within the United States to possess or traffic illegal controlled substances outside the United States, or engage in conduct within the United States to aid or abet drug trafficking outside the United States, may be criminally prosecuted in the United States, and for other purposes.

I also think I heard the law is reciprocal with other countries.

Just my opinion only, I think the purpose is for the traffickers of cocaine, crack and other illegal abused substances that are being prepared in another country, then transported into the US, it's just another charge to tack on once they catch them.

I don't know. I understand the fear, but from the time I've been here (albeit a short time), I see way more silliness than genuine activity that may be considered unseemly.

Maybe I'm just a "thumb your nose at authority" type of person.

I just don't know how much bite this will have.
When the RH act was passed lots of people said it would be game over for anything on the
internet for meds. We know that is far from the case and basically the same products are
still available from a plethora of sources.

This new bill sounds scary, but if the RH act really did nothing but hurt the US NROPs
then the new bill is going to be impossible to enforce. Just too many sources and not enough
    man power.

This is a silly and unenforcable bill. What agency is going to waste time on this crap. I'd like to find out if this was a rider to another bill like funding for the pig poop effects on the Galaxy Study group. And I'd like to know who members of both houses who where in attendance for this little bundle of joy. This is just more congress with nothing to do besides come up with this kind of crap don't you know the cartels are running for the hills with tough drug laws like this. I think I'll renew my Vows in Amsterdam but then I couldn't take my wife. She knows there's more fun to had then a bunch of coffee houses. I'll go and way and be a big kid about it I'll do the crime and the time if there is any.

It's all about CONTROL, folks.....little by little, these rich pr*cks are trying to put the beat-down on the working people and get us intimidated to the point where we don't think we are free anymore. They want to instill that feeling of helplessness in all of us. Right before they lower the boom on us with their little plan.

You can fight back, with your $$$ and your votes.....shut the TeeVee off, stop buying their (by "their", I mean these multi-national corporations that fund the campaigns of the rich pr*cks) products, don't pay good money to go watch their over-priced, hyped-up sporting events. Basically, don't play their game.

When it comes time to vote, don't vote for their candidates....Romney, Perry, Santorum, Bachman, and, of course, Obama...all are political stooges, bought and paid for by the globalists. You think they give two sh*ts for your freedoms? Guess again. They have other plans for you - like slave labor and federal housing slums.

The American government is rediculous. I feel all these nonsense bills are just scare tactics. Plus how would they enforce such a petty thing. Waste of our hard earned tax dollars once again. Sorry but Big Brother can suck it.

If you want to change things vote for a third party candidate instead of the usual d or r which have become the same thing anyway. Another good thing is to join one of the occupy protests in a city near you. I did and i'm in the thick of it now. It's not violent at all, peaceful protest like what ghandi did.

Or sit on your couch and bitch but then when they come for you, you know you did nothing to stop the fascist state from taking over.

make no mistake my friends , this bill is pointed squarly at these foroums and the vendors that are supported by them . it can and will be used against other trafficking but this a blatant attempt to stop free speach and restrict information from being desiminated. at this rate it won't be long before any form of desent will be a criminal offense . for those of us who need these vendors to help with chronic conditions it's an attack on the liberty of trying not to be controled by big pharma and bigger health care . it's all about who gets your money. someone of your decision or who the big corporate/government wants your money to go to .

it really comes down to all these pharmaceutical companies with their billions whereby they own politicians,,they need to control all the script meds in our society, they can get a drug on the market that kills many thats ok----just a side effect, like i said, we have a society controlled by the money people

    Default this is

this is 100% correct........if we banned together we could crush the gas companies if we did this as a whole then we could bring down the congress and the house.........we need to say NO as a whole............if we all took all of our money instead of letting the Gov take it for an interest free loan every year from us then we could force our hand to them.............I never stop at 7-11 to buy anything or a gas station but to buy diesel fuel for my truck or tractors. 7-11 and gas stations do not make money on gas or fuel but they do on the little commodities they sell us like candy soda snacks etc..............they make a fortune.............if we all just cut bqack a little bit we could crush them! Watch sports.....ha I WOULD RATHER SLAM MY DICK IN A DOOR JAM THEN SIT AND WATCH SPORTS ON TV!

Since I'm a new member with few posts I was unable to reply to a message I got from dsteury... So I'm going to a couple of the topics you last visited and are posting there in hopes you read them and can let me know if you did or did not receive the response.
Sorry to other readers that this is off topic but the restrictions of this site is a lot different and stricter than drug buyers was and I think this is the only way I can send dsteury a message.

    Thanks

I don't know about that, but certainly could be true. New laws just tick me off. We already have too many to enforce, or even know. I think that Congress should spend it's time reducing the number of laws; consolidating or eliminating the outdated or stupid ones. That would be the smart way to earn their money.

In regards to the forums, I think that discussing our chronic pain problems in addition to other options for med acquisition, just gives the board's cause more justification which can only help it, and it's posters.
