Thread: Question about ordering a Schedule IV online

Default Question about ordering a Schedule IV online

I'm still learning, I suppose, about the ins/outs of IOP's. I have had a recurring prescription from my personal GP for Tramadol for quite a while. Unfortunately, Walmart has a "Cannot refill more than 1x per 30 days" Policy on Schedule IV drugs which Tramadol now is, in Illinois

My question is: Buying Tramadol online, is this a bad idea now that it's an Sched.IV where I live, even though I have a prescription from my GP? Should I just stop ordering this due to a possible legal situation I could have to deal with in the future even though my GP prescribes me this?

Before you ask, the reason I ordered more online rather than to continue getting it from my GP is because he writes me a QTY 60, use 1 every 8 hours as needed for pain (some days I take 2, other days I take 3). If I take 2 or 3 each day for pain, I'll obviously run out before the 30-day "Refill window" reopens for me, even though I have a refill RX written for me already by my GP

I'm a delivery driver and I get pretty horrible back pain (guessing from the constant sitting, and standing, repeat..) and this helps me immensely and always has. It also has been very effective for my IBS symptoms whereas I have been unable to find another medication to help with my IBS pain

If you could give me advice, would you advise me to discontinue ordering these? Just found it weird that both IOP's i've ordered from haven't said anything about not being able to ship to IL for this particular medication (One is a US IOP, the other is in the UK)

@joejoesox, You neglected to mention what mg of Tramadol you are prescribed. I wouldn't concern myself with ordering this medication from an OP or an IOP and BTW, what is the name of the U.S. OP? If they're legit, maybe they are still shipping out the recently Nationwide scheduled Carisoprodol on the "QT".

Thanks so much for your response, I was hoping my lowly 4 posts wouldn't cause most other members to ignore me, lol

My GP has me on 50mg Tramadol (generic), 1 every 8 hours

The US OP is ProcessRX. They do not carry Carisoprodol anymore...

Sorry this is off topic but I used to get soma with ease. What happened and is it possible to get it without incredible hassle anymore? My job kills my back and these last few weeks have been killing me.... Thanks

@joejoesox Processrx is currently where I order my tramadol. (I didnt know Ill, scheduled it) and it is a reputable NROP. The first order might seem to be a hassle but thats just a one time thing to verify who you are. Do a search on them and there are tons of responses, mostly positive, about them. My doctor only prescribes me 50 a month (used to be 30) and instructions say 1 or 2 tabs every 8 hrs for pain, well mathmatically speaking, that doesnt last long so I turned to NROPs to supplement.

Wow, I didn't know wal-mart had adopted their very own policy to not allow refills before 30 days...but I absolutely believe it.
It's very interesting to me how each individual pharmacy can have their own policy regarding refill/time tables. These can vary GREATLY too!
In the past, I've been told by a pharmacy that my insurance wouldn't allow a refill before X amount of days; however, if I wanted to pay for it in cash without using insurance I could get it filled. Lately though, I suppose more and more pharmaces may be setting up their own policy to govern refill dates.
I have found that smaller mom and pop style pharmacies are more willing to work with you with refills.
*As far as ordering tramadol online, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Schedule IV medication is not that big a deal.

thanks for the response! here's the deal with Wal-mart Pharmacy Policy

If it isn't a controlled substance, there is no "30 days Must Pass before Refill" policy. However, if it is a CS, you cannot have a script refilled unless 30 days has passed since you last received the same medication

I don't use insurance (I pay $4.00 for the generic), and this policy still applies.

You should just ask your doctor to label the prescription "may refill after 25 days." Or have the pharmacist call your doctor on day 25 and get approval to refill on that day.
I'd be very surprised if Walmart's store policy would be allowed to override a physician's instructions.

@joejoesox Gosh, they have really tightened up their policy....that seriously sux. As if WalMart isn't on a big enough power-trip. Here's yet another ego stroke to remind them just how very close they are to ruling the world!!!

I mean really, why should WalMart give a ratz-azz when you fill your own prescriptions??? You're not using insurance and there are no laws prohibiting this. Why even concern themselves with this matter???

Plus, by only making this rule applicable to controlled medications.....that's a whole other level of abusing power. It's like being slapped across the face by the ghost of Sam Walton everyday as you wait for your med to be filled.

I don't know why I allow WalMart to get under my skin like this......Sorry, but I just can't help it.

My pharmacy (not Wal-Mart) absolutely will not refill unless and untill the 25 day period passes, whether the doc calls or not. They suck.

The pain clinic I go to put a sign up stating their patients could no longer use wal-mart as their pharmacy. I didn't ask why as I don't use them.

I have encountered this situation with pharmacies around me also....they won't even refill if paying cash..they are actually dictating when I can refill a script...one pharmacist told me it made them look bad if they refilled it early..so I never went back. but...you have to be careful because if you use a couple different pharmacies, just for convenience sake (say you want to pick up a script after work vs by your home pharmacy) they are asking me why, now, am I using more than one pharmacy....it is getting scary...big brother type of stuff if you ask me.

Yeah it won't be long before big brother has us all coming in to get our unique "Mark of the Beast" RFID/GPS implant, tatoo, whatever. It's a said friggin day when DEA autocrats with college degrees have nothing to do with medical care are controlling what doctors and pharmacies can and can not do.

@joejoesox I know you post was made a few weeks ago but I see 2 options

    1. Order some extras. (What happens if you loose them, leave then the car in the summer and they get baked,.... heck I remember accidentally dumping about 10 xannies in the bathrrom sink once once when I was getting one out (of course it was wet from shaving, toothbrushing so they immediately dissolved. Just get 60 or 90, that small an order as @Blockhead said is pretty low risk

    2. Talk to you doc and have him bump your script to #75 or even #90. If it says 2-3/day thats 75 if you split the difference.

Hmmmm...I wonder if walmart imports all their meds from China? Seems like most of the stuff they sell is from there.

I had a time having my doc bump my trams from 30 to 50, so depending on the doctor, it might not happen.

Yesterday a friend of mine stopped by and she called in a refill for her BP meds which over the past month her doctor doubled her dosage so of course she ran out early. Well CVS refused to refill until they got a call from her doc verifying that the dosage had changed and they needed a new rx. I mean its a BP med c'mon. Well she had to call the doc and it all got straightened out but I know what she meant when she said all these phone calls are just a pain in the arse.

I can see why pharmacies don't won't to fill early even something like a bp med. they have audits and things they go through and have to answer to why something was filled early etc. they can't just take a patients word for it that a doctor changed the script. Actually the doctor should have know to call immediately to the pharm to explain the change and script IMO.

Still sucks your doc won't give you more. I personally will never take tramadol ever again but that is me. But I don't see you ordering online a big deal.
