Hey guys as all of you know, or are being reminded mothers day is right around the corner! May 13th to be exact. This year I want to do something really special for my mom but she's the kind of mom that never tells me what she wants but would love anything that I get her. Of course I've done some searching and have a few faint ideas but I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any plans, or what you moms out there would want! Plus my wife is 6 months pregnant so I'm not really sure if we celebrate mothers day yet or wait til next year?? Lol

*This post was auto-merged. The following text was added 6 minutes after the last post:*

I'd also like to say happy early mothers day to all you mothers out there! It is a very special day in my opinion! And too many mothers go under appreciated!

@Jkirk2012 - Maybe you could get your Mom a Pandora Charm Bracelet with a few meaningful charms. Then each mother's day/holiday, you could buy a new meaningful charm that she could add to her bracelet. You could also do the same thing for your pregnant wife (there are a lot of cute baby related Pandora charms). Each mother's day/holiday, you could then buy your wife a new meaningful Pandora charm to add to her bracelet.

Your wife has been carrying your precious little one for 6 months, and in a few months she will be going through childbirth, so I think you should at least get her a little something, like a spa day, a gift certificate for a massage, a manicure and pedicure, or anything that's relaxing - I could tell you something that's naughty and free that she would probably love, but I better not since I don't think you know naughty Mimi very well yet Those are just a few ideas that I have, but I would at least get your wife a little something on mother's day because I think she would really appreciate it, and maybe she'll give you a little something in return

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for wishing me and everyone else a Happy Mother's Day!! That was very nice of you!

@Jkirk2012 , yes most definitely get your wife a little something, it will be greatly appreciated. If your mom has everything or is older like my mom and does not want more "stuff" then name a star after her. We did that for my mom and she LOVED it. Another thing we got her one year was ice cream from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream in Ohio. It is this little boutique gourmet ice cream that has all these amazing flavors and they ship anywhere in the US. Also, how about an ultrasound picture of her grand baby and put it in a locket? She can change it out for another picture when the baby is born.

@poocheroo - You just gave me a great idea! This Mother's Day I am going to demand that my husband name a star after me Seriously though, I think that would be really cool. I like that idea! An ultrasound picture of the grand baby in a locket is a great idea too for grandma! I wish I would have thought of that for my mom when I was pregnant

I think a card means so much more than some people would think. Just the fact you took the time, picked out the card, and wrote something very nice is all most mothers could ever ask for IMO. That's what my gift would be.

I'm with @mimi07 and @poocheroo with those gift ideas. The Pandora charm idea is a great idea and so is having a star named after you, and most definitely a certificate for a massage.

I thought I would try to add a few ideas. Don't know if you're animal lovers, but one year (for Christmas) I was able to donate to the zoo in our city and choose an animal. The zoo then sent cards to my 3 family members saying that animal had been sponsored in their names and there was apparently something at the zoo which had their names on it. It wasn't an expensive thing to do, as I was a broke, college student at the time.

I'm hard to buy for so people who know me get me gift certificates or gift cards to my favorite places. Then, I can pick what I want!

@dingleberry the best gift I think I've ever given my mom was a really thoughtful card. I'm gonna try to find one as good but I really wanna get her something else too. Thanks for the advice!
@mistkit yet another great idea, for my wife anyways she absolutely loves animals and going to the Memphis zoo.

I think one of the biggest things is that you put time and thought into something, whatever it may be. Women drop hints all of the time-or you could come right and and ask for suggestions.

Sort of takes the mystery out of it, I know, but better to over than under achieve, yes?

@mistkit great idea about the zoo, especially for animal lovers! We gave to Heifer International one year which was kind of cool. You can pick out one you want to donate. I think it was a goat or sheep or something and that is provided to a village in a third world country. Funny story we actually gave to a friend who was being a real brat one Xmas, with a wish list of all this ridiculous stuff she wanted. She is a real diva so we thought the gift of a goat in her name was pretty funny. She was not amused.

This year I am asking for a night to myself in a hotel. Nothing fancy, probably the comfort inn, I just want some alone time. With a baby and a toddler nipping at my heals all day, I would love to just check into a hotel with some wine, take out, tabloid magazines and sit on the bed chilling out. I might bring a smart book but probably not. Maybe take a hot bath and sleep in.

DEFINITELY a card. How about a gift certificate to a spa or somewhere that gives massages, etc? My mother loves that type of stuff and really liked that last year. Agree a card with a thoughtful note goes a Long way if you are low on funds for a gift.

Some companies make purses/bags that incorporate a photo collage on them, so you can personalize a tote or a purse. ANYTHING personalized with a photo of her kids/grandkids is cool, of course.

I got my mother one of those framed "school days" things where you can put a photo for each year, Kindergarten through 12th grade, of her child/grandchild.

Spa certificates, gourmet food, gift basket of all her favorite things...good ideas too.

Don't forget a sweet card or handwritten note

OMG! Going to a Hotel alone is my absolutely favorite thing in the world to do!!! Be careful, because it's very addictive! I started doing it when my daughter was around three and i have been hooked since. My boyfriend has been giving me that gift for four years now! (but i've been more times than just on my b-day,cha ching$$)

And if he knows what's good for him he better not get me no damn star

@naughtysmurf - I never thought about going to a hotel by myself until now. This is a great idea!! I think I'm going to talk to my hubs about it. I could really use some total alone time. I have a feeling that if I do it once, then I might start trying to do it weekly
