Default Dilaudid injections = WAY better then sex

When I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, I was getting it several times a day.

One of the older nurses hooked me up several times during her shift. Cool lady.

Dilaudid relieved all of the physical, mental, and emotional pain I was in.

I can still feel that rush, the warmth, the beads of perspiration breaking out on my forehead.

MUCH more pleasurable than an orgasm.

When I was having my back surgery...the day before..i could have dilaudid once every hour injected. The nurses told me later that it was a giveaway for my dependence, because most people pass out after they have it...and I was chitty chatty...haveing fun. The nurses are hip, and it gave me away, and they labeled me. Because of that...after surgery they didn't give me jack. Nurses are totally hip to that stuff. They want you to pass out or they label you. Those bitches.

@Loubitan i woke up in military hospital after six weeks in a coma[non induced] I had a nice little piece of titanium in my head about the size of a silver dollar . When i switched back on i was in fighting mode i feel bad now about the german/american nurse trying to feed me oat meal. I was like wtf where am i and who they hell are you people . I had no memories of what had happened to me just pain so bad from my head and knee cap damage.i pulled nose feeding tube out of my nose and tried to get out of bed ,blam ,i hit the floor,I still feel it. the old nurse just drug a stand up mirror over and said look at yourself. later that day after trying to get to my military uniform and leave. They put me on moriphine drip with oxygen ,now that, was almost as good as sex , then i was put on dilaudid, a step down each time to detox me i was always on oxygen seems they didnot want to check out while in their care. smokijoe

@smokinjoe - I can't even compare my story to yours. Wow is all I can say. My pain was nothing compared to what you went through...and I bet you still have pain from that...probably emotional and physical. I don't think nurses are bitches...that was too harsh, and now I feel bad for saying that. Although this one nurse told me that they knew I had dependence issues, because I was watching the clock waiting for my dilaudid hourly injection. How pathetic am I? Can you imagine....ohhh...the nurse is coming...put drool on my lip and pretend to be passed out.

@Loubitan you were supposed to say oooohhh it hhhhuurrttssss [i said you mfers get some pain killers or when i get up there will be pain given out.] I was 6ft 8inches 275lbs , a wreck in 2004 took out 3 inches of spine. i had no memories, buried it till an ex picked it out of me after seeing photos of me. Some times I do catch myself in a daze thinking of fellows buds that i had so much good times with. I only have pain when i hit my head there and WoW i can see galaxies, Hubble telescope has not seen. im good to go on that one jo

Yeah, I will admit to being 100% totally prejudiced against nurses and that very coment could get some some hot clack on this board so I could take the safe route or I could just say how it is.

I will say how it is that way you know what you get with me.

I have a weakness for nurses too you might say, having dated about 5 of them and 2 were very serious relationships. I find them very numb to pain because that is all they see.

Very low tolerance for addicts most of the time. Always exceptions.

it is vital to put your best acting mask on if ever you find yourself in the hospital and you have no access to your own stash, which I highly recommend. I would never go into a hospital without my own drugs since I do not trust their pain control one bit.

But, if you ever are, be nice at any cost, they control everything in there. Getting rude gets you no where. There is never a mosre diect line to it than in the hospital situation.

It's a hell of a rush and probably my most favorite high i've experinced. I was getting them several times a day when i had my surgery and in pill form too. It was the only good part of my whole experience lol and kept me going
I guess the good times they were all just killing me.

When I woke up from 5 hours of surgery to replace 3 spinal disks in my neck 4 family friends were there and they asked me how I felt. I felt like I had been on a two week relaxing beach vacation with daily massages. My body felt so relaxed with no pain and all my tight muscles relaxed. Felt great. I don't know the drugs I was on.
I'd prefer this to sex anytime. Nothing personal to anyone I might be with.
The anesthesiologist agreed not to use gas (which always gives me a sore throat) so I had IV something.
Anybody have an Idea what drug that was?

Cakes better than sex too in my humble opinion, I don't like to be out of control of my senses, so when I came around from surgery I made them take me off the Morphine, boy did I puke as soon as I sat up. I have a high pain threshold but to be honest I did love Entenox during labour, the thing is my kids were coming to visit and I wanted to be compus mentus and Morphine does not leave you compus mentus at all.

Loubitan, You are right! Many years ago, before I got into Hospice, I worked Med-Surg and I can tell you from personal experience, that there are unfortunately many physicians and nurses who are very judgemental concerning patients and pain meds. In my experience, keep the following tips in mind when you find yourself in the hospital requiring pain meds and you have an existing opiate tolerance:
    1) Be honest with the doctor! They generally write standing orders for X pain med to be administered by the nurses PRN with clear parameters. But, if they do not know you are NOT opiate naive, they WILL undermedicate you. Lie to your priest, lie to your spouse, lie to your neighbor, but don't lie to your doctor in this situation! These days, most people in the hospital have their followup care overseen by a hospitalist who doesn't know them personally. If they are unwilling to order the proper dosage of pain meds, have your surgeon or GP call them to have a chat.
    2) When the nurse walks into your room and you are on your cell phone texting and yukking it up with your friends, it's hard for us to believe your pain is really a 9 on the 1-10 scale. I'm not saying it's right, just true.
    3) If a nurse cops an attitude with you about asking for pain meds, ask to see the charge nurse or Nurse Manager if the charge nurse can't or wont help you. You have a right to proper pain management!
    4) If whatever pain med has been written for you while in the hospital is NOT working for you, TELL THE DOCTOR. Hospitalist's especially, generally don't want to be paged every half hour to have a conversation with you or your nurse about pain meds. They know you're likely going to be there short term, so they are generally, less concerned about addiction/abuse issues.
    5) Lastly, I say DO NOT LIE to your doctor for a couple of reasons. Most importantly, unless you have an excellent working knowledge of medicine and pharmacology, taking "personal" meds while in the hospital without the knowledge of your doctors is a dangerous game.

I wish most physicians and nurses had a more compassionate and understanding view of pain management, but IMHO, unless you work in that particular field of care, it just isn't true.

Funny Dilaudid never did that for me. And I had it recently. ER visit, kidney stones. Took them forever to give me anything and when they gave me the Dilaudid it was like baby aspirin. I was still squirming on the gurnee. It wasn't until they gave me Morphine I got any relief. Let alone high.
