    Default Donna Summer

Donna Summer passed away today at the age of 63. She lived in FL and was battling cancer.

I loved her. I loved her music and I remember dancing to her songs as a kid - we took a couple of things to competition. Her voice made me want to get up and DANCE.

Au revoir. You will be missed.

Very sad indeed. I saw her in concert twice at Wolftrap outside DC years ago and really enjoyed myself.

"I don't think that I can take it"
"'cause it took so long to bake it"
"and I'll never have that recipe again"

First Glenn from Swamp People and now Donna Summer? Really, this has been a terrible week. She was soooo amazing and I did not even know she was sick. We always had dance routines in our back yard to her songs and ABBA. Wow, I totally remember wearing out my K-tel record with She Works Hard for the Money. Going to play Last Dance right now and have a dance off with my 3 year old. RIP beautiful lady, you will be greatly missed!

K-Tel records??? Careful girl, you're dating yourself. I'm sure you meant CD.... Right?
And what's up with the Honorable moniker under your name? I distinctly remember cutting off the rungs below me as I was climbing the PR social ladder. Someone should alert the MODS immediately...this is outrageous!

Ok first of all K-Tel records were AWESOME. Full Tilt being my favorite volume I believe. I mean come on, where could you find Ambrosia and Devo in one place? Secondly, your insolence to an Honorable Member has been duly noted (repercussions swift and painful), Thirdly, WTF? I specifically told you I must be notified of all new posts. Now i have to spend my morning "liking" all your damn posts instead of feeding, changing and showing my baby affection. Lastly, your most recent post in the Obama/Romney/Incredibly Tedious thread gets you a virtual face slap. You are to post only commentary that makes me laugh! Now dance monkey dance! Yes let's do lunch. Have your people call mine....toodles

The Queen of Disco. She had so many hits and always such a classy lady. I just heard "I love to love you baby" on the radio last week and it made me think of all of her other songs and the good times we had back then.

    Rest in peace Donna

Yeh, Donna was an interesting case. I danced my self weary many times to her early music. I Feel Love was my favorite.

I always found it interesting how she was propelled into stardom by gay musicians and recording executives (Georgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte and David Geffen) and gay nightclubs when she had such a low opinion of us. "oh I love you all and I pray for God to make you right, AIDS is your sin . . ."

Moroder and Belotte did some amazing work with the instrumentation and some of the best work ever with the moog synthesizer on those songs. And they both have plenty of other work out there to enjoy. Philip Oakey, Debbie Harry and Blondie, Freddie Mercury come to mind. So Donna was in good company.

For the part she contributed to the scene, I'm sure she did, very much, work hard for the money. RIP Donna.

I heard about this as well. I have been to several concerts with friends and loved every minute of it. I'm going to miss her contribution......RIP Donna Summer!

I really believe that if it wasn't for us gay people, there would be no Donna Summer. Years later she tried to redeem herself saying she was misquoted

You know your stuff. I was on that dance floor. "Rumor Has It" was always high on my list as well.

Most people know her music from limited radio play. DJ's in gay clubs spun the tunes most of the public never heard.

She was one of the few with a 5 octave range. She used it.

I think when Disco died it was because it was gay music. later on when Donna Summers career didn't take off, she went back to playing gay clubs and sing disco.

I think she had become a born again christian when she said those things. But realized being born again isn't going to pay the bills.

I do believe we forgave her and opened up our hearts to her.

So who is the most Christ like?
