My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in Denver affected by such a tragic senseless incomprehensible act of madness. You will be in the thoughts of many if not all in the UK today and in the days to come :-(

Awful incident in an area that has had more than their fair share of mindless violence over the years. Of course sympathy and condolences to any victims or friends and family of victims. I hope I'm not out of line when I question why there seems to be a disproportionate share of this type of thing in Colorado. I know back in the late 90's a lot was made of the lack of gun licensing and control, but I hope that has changed. Probably the worst part of this is that it will "morph" into a gun control argument and the victims, cause, and reasonable ideas for prevention will be lost in an argument ranging from; "Don't let anyone have guns" to "arm everyone so that when someone does this they are shot by a licensed gun carrying citizen immediately". Sorry to rant but I have friends and relatives that live in that area and the senseless killing, particularly of young people (Columbine H.S., Deer Creek Middle school) is just sickening.

I agree DevilishOne, It's people that kill people, and even in this country (UK) it is possible/easy to obtain a shotgun if you are determined and don't worry about breaking the law.
I have always enjoyed shooting of all types since my forces days, and I will admit a keen interest in firearms, I don't however want to shoot anybody.
I don't know if this guy was a legitimate and licensed firearms holder or not, but it will invariabley turn in to more legislation.
This is probably not the place for that argument at the moment, I just wanted it noted that there are people all over the world thinking about everybody affected by this tragedy RIP

@lewisshuw, @Chancer, @DevilishOne, if there can be a bright spot in this tragedy, the 3 month old who was supposedly shot was not. The baby's parents took the child to the hospital to be checked out, and the baby is ok thank God.
This is just gross... I know people have there problems, but this has gone too far. When does this end?? What do we do with these kinds of people.? I live in Toronto and its getting out of hand here too. ITS always guns when your reading about something happening.I dont have the answers but it seems like its getting worse out there.

I don't understand evil in this world. Ok maybe our depressed or upset. Why do you need to bring such hurt to SO MANY PEOPLE? What do you gain by hurting innocent people and families?
I have these families in my prayers today. It is just unbelievable how many people he hit and the devastation caused by one person![]()
Don't sweat petty things....or pet sweaty things
It's sad, I was going to take my twins to see Madagascar tonight. After seeing this kind of stuff it makes me not want to go at all. It's a shame that people do things like this. Your not safe anywhere anymore. Living in the south, where everyone is armed, makes me think too, what if it happened in a place where several other people were personally armed for protection. A freaking gun battle would erupt. No telling how many more people would have been killed from stray bullets. It happened here a few months ago. a man robbed a dollar store of all things. he held a gun to the clerks head demanding money. A customer pulled his gun and a shoot out began. When the smoke cleared, the clerk was dead. When the police investigated, it was the customers bullet that hit.the clerk and caused her death.. I hate to hear so many terrible things like this. And it seems to only get worse.. my prayers go out to them all
I would like to send out my sincere condolences & sympathy to all the people that were affected by such a senseless act of violence. It's an awful thing when you can't even go to a movie anymore without having to worry that something terrible can happen.

My thoughts and prayers are going out for those all who have been affected by this senseless act.
I am devastated for the families of the victims and the shooter. Something went terribly wrong somewhere in this man's mind. I read a few minutes ago that he is actually a phd student in Neuroscience at the University of Colorado. I'm wondering if he wasn't there trying to figure out what was going on in his brain.
Seriously heartbreaking...
Kevlar, gas, guns and a nut... what a combination! So many neighbor, family and friends lives devasted by one senseless person.
I will be holding my boys a little tighter tonight.
K.
He is a SMUG SON OF A BI....TCH....
He called himself the joker and has such an elaborate bomb in his apartment they can't figure out how to disalarm it without setting if off and they had to evacuate 5 buildings.
He needs to be tortured.
@UGAgal , you and I think soooo much a like. *******, no wait that's a word that's too good for that wacko!!
My son and his girl drove to Florida yesterday. He's 18 and she's 17. Guess where they went today?? You got it, to see Batman!! I didn't find out until after the fact though, thank God. It was bad enough worrying about their drive down. He's really mature and responsible, but I had visions of someone snatching his girl, putting her in a rig and taking off!! She's about 5'3, weighs about 90 lbs. and is absolutely beautiful. I told him NO rest areas, there are enough huge gas stations to stop to pee at ya know??!!

I hate to say this, but I will. That.heartless, gutless piece of s#!+ should have just put the gun to his own head and pulled the trigger. This kind of behavior makes me sick. One things for sure, he won't have that crappy little smile on his face when he finds out what really goes on behind prison bars. Especially those who hurt or kill children. I hope he gets exactly what he deserves.
This was a seriously smart man with the world at his feet... I can not imagine what his psyche must be to do something so horrific. How does one hate themselves and/or others enough to destroy at will? I am not naive enough to think this doesn't exist but if I find out he is just pissed off because his parents are divorced or he couldn't get laid enough - HEADS WILL ROLL! I MIGHT understand more if his brain chemistry was mis-wired or he had an uncontrollable personality disorder. I doubt the victims, friends or families will be even that generous.
Mean people SUCK!

I am an "expect the worst" and be happily surprised when it doesn't happen person. That is not to say I'm a pessimist.
It is sad to say, whenever I am at a public event, an arena, an airport, a festival, etc., my eyes roam like a secret service agent and the thought is always in my mind.
If it is an indoor or crowded arena, I even ensure I know where the fastest exit is.
Crazy. Pathetic.
I just took my twin nieces and their little friend to see ICE AGE today. I will admit, we sat close to the . exit and my.movie experience was not as enjoyable as normal. Im sure there will be a COPY CAT that will try this somewhere else someday. Just as the high school shootings. I hope this doesn't become a fad and give people ideas. I pray that this, world turns in a more positive direction and that put younger generation can work thru this and see that pain, killing and horrible crimes is not the way to go. hopefully someday, enough will be enough..
I am actually avoiding all news of the Denver shooting. It is so tragic and awful and I just don't feel like I have the capacity to take it on. I go to the movies a lot - I agree with @1Monkey - I do think there will be a copy cat or that this will bring on a rash of public/school shootings. It's terribly frightening.
I just forced my husband to watch the movie WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN - I read the book many months ago. It is the (fictional) account from a mother's perspective - the mother of the killer. It's heart-wrenching and brilliant.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of all those involved in this heinous crime committed in Colorado. I just don’t understand why an individual would feel it necessary to do such a thing. He was bringing no happiness to himself and absolutely no happiness to anyone involved or even our nation! You go out to see a wonderful movie with your friends at a midnight showing and some disturbed person decides that those who like batman movies deserve to die. I am very fearful of the implications of this atrocity. The city/state/and national government has been trying to take away our constitutional right to bear arms and this will be a big victory in their campaign. Criminals will always have guns, and if they take them away from the mass population, we will be helpless against those who desire to harm us. This is such a trying time in our nation and I pray a speedy recovery for those harmed and comfort for the families who have lost loved ones...
