I am home....and ok

Hi.

I am drained and have no strength so bare with me on my post. I got home 2 days ago. I was in ICU dor 5 days and then when I came out of coma I don't remember the next two days even though I was awake and moved into regular room

Surgery was good. I have a big BIG scar but staples are out so at least it can start to heal better.

We found out source of hernia and I feel stupid. I had a cyst on the OUTSIDE of my head that have had all my life. Sometimes it gets sore and when I was 14 doc said it was a benign cyst and no worries. Would never be an issue.

Well it is called a Dermoid Cyst. They grow roots and eventually can puncture through your skull and this was the cause of my hernia.

I can't stand but a few minutes. I walk a few steps to bathroom and back and that is all I have energy for. My 14 year old is helping me and my other kids are with inlaws for next 2 weeks at least.

I have a droopy right side of face but doc says that will chnage over time. It was just from surgery. My speech is slower than what is happening in my brain but again just side effects of surgery. Rehab should fix all that. Energy will return in time.

I do have some other issues that we do not know yet if they will clear 100% over time or not. Mainly muscle twitching. Doc said he will have to see if damaged nerves bounce back enough for that to stop.

I have been switched to a doc here in my town and go next week for a visit. All records from the Florida hospital have been sent to the new doc and my mom did a phone consult to update on my condition. Getting home was very hard in a tropical storm. I did fly home but it was hard and painful. Funny how many stares you get when you have a scar and half a shaved head. On plane I was put in first class and laid down entire time. Then they carted me through airport.

I will get on when I can and read and catch up. I am tired and my typing is slooooooooow. but I am ok and at least at home.

My pain issues now are migraines. Along with still pain at surgery site and of course my damn hip. I am not on patch now. Taking meds via pill for now. Pain meds do not help migraines so I will discuss this with doc next week. Hell I don't know what peeps take for migraines. I get at least 4 a week since I have been awake. Doc said I would continue this for awhile due to brain trauma.

Thank you all for prayers and thoughts. It has been rough and I don't remember much. And I am trying to do exactly what I am told. Rehab nurse came today so I am extra tired.

Oh God UGAgal, I thought u knew. It all happened so fast and at the same time. She has passed away. It has been awful sad around here . I'm sorry you found out this way. Ugh. That's part of why everyone is so worked up on the emergency contact thing. Many had been trying to reach her for days and nothing. Not even via email. River finally got someone at her house via phone and got the news. So yeah....give someone your info please. It has been such a sad sad time. I miss her terribly. I am so happy that I don't have to miss you. Nothing can upset me today. I have just received the best news. @UGAgal

I was praying for you and now I am so happy to see you back! Try to be positive and patient with yourself. It sounds like you are making very good progress. Years ago I had a brain injury and went through rehab etc. so I do understand.
