Its more like you don't feel anything at all. Lortab is an opiate pain reliever and soma is a skeletal muscle relaxer.
You will feel great and sleep like a baby.
EDIT..........THEY CAN BE TAKEN TOGETHER AND ARE OFTEN PRESCRIBED TOGETHER. FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE OR MUST TAKE THEM, JUST BE CAREFUL.

That is NOT what medications are for.

What are you suffering from that you are on lortab?
    and soma?
    Do not take them together.
Why are you posting this in MENTAL health?

Combining Lortab and Soma may cause central nervous system and respiratory depression. This is due to the interaction of Soma to the hydrocodone part of Lortab.

I have been prescribed by my doctor Soma and Norco (5mg) after a car accident, its perfectly OK to take both the drugs at the same time at therapeutic doses. Tinmuning is right CNS depression may be caused when taking both these drugs.

    @MikeW,

What do you mean when you say this is not what medications are for? There are plenty of reasons one would get prescribed both of these medicines (see above reason). Doctors prescribe this combo a lot because of the potentiation effect of the two drugs. It allows doctors to prescribe smaller doses of hydrocodone like a 5mg Lortab (or even 2.5mg Vicodin) because the Soma will increase its effectiveness. Of course if your an idiot and decide to take more than your supposed to than you've done the world a favor and hopefully if your a male you wont be able to produce any more offspring which will make the world a safer, smarter place.

So to answer your question directly Cavs in '08 yes, it does feel good just stay within the recommended dosage and you will be fine.

Also, just wanted to through this out there. A Soma Compound with Codeine does exist which is a compound of Soma (200mg), Aspirin (325mg), and Codeine (16mg).

Thanking you for your response "mlo" to "mike w"...I too am on pain meds, however, I am highly sensative to pain medications and now that they have taken Darvon off the market I am now forced to take Lortab 5mg and although my doc says that it is supposed to be much much stronger than Darvon 65mg (believe it or not that pain reliever and dosage was amazing on my pain) I am finding it is not very effective at all for my chronic/severe pain.

I do my own research for my meds before I am willing to allow any doc to put me on any form of any medication so I had googled to see what could work in conjunction with Lortab 5mg without having to go to a stronger mg use of Lortab especially since my doc told me that Lortab can be highly addictive with many side effects.

However, seeing "mike w" response regarding "that is NOT what medications are for" sorta ticked me off for some reason. Especially since it is necessary for someone like me and many others and it is always good to know what can be taken together...unless his response was in reference to a post that can no longer be viewed since he posted in '09.

I have an appt with my doc in January to discuss further options and I plan to talk with him regarding Soma...glad to know it works well in conjunction with the 5mg and could possibly work well enough for me to not have to take 1 every 6 hours.

Sons helps my back pain. I had 2 surgeries this year on my lumbar area and its no joke. Drs that wont prescribe proper pain control should not be practicing. Just my opinion

Be very careful when mixing the two. Maybe take your regular opiate dose but take a only a small amount of soma. If prescribed.

mixing a low dose opiate medication like Lortab/Vicodin with a muscle relaxant is a commonly prescribed pair of medications. The muscle relaxant will increase the strength of the pain killing effect of the Hydrocodone while allowing you to use less of the Hydrocodone so that it lasts longer.

I use a 500/325 vicodin with a soma at night before bed and sleep like a baby. I can't use this combo during the day as it makes me drowsy for the first 45 minutes after taking this combo. Night time is good tho

Just a word to the wise about poteniating in order to make your supply last longer- I've heard it said before that it makes your tolerance to pain meds go up faster than if the pain med was taken alone, and I've certainly experienced this, however I've no academic articles or anything to back it up. Just hearing what other people have said on other sites and what I've experienced.

The key is to "take as prescribed" My doctor who prescribed both medications to me, told me to take this combo at night if/when I'm experiencing severe back spasms. I don't take this combo every night, heck I dont take my SOMA or my vicodin every day "Only when needed".

If you abuse the combination, well of course it will cause issues. Abusing anything will cause tolerance issues, and adverse side affects associated with the medication your taking. Nothing new there.

First time a doc prescribed Soma and Lortab I didn't know what the combo would do. I took the combo and starting getting dizzy and feeling nauseous. Probably should only be combined if a person is in serious pain. Because of the severe prescription med addiction prob in the US, now when you are in chronic pain it's hard to get a doc to write you a script for anything other than common over the counter pain meds like ibuprofen and naproxen. One caution is that drug and alcohol abuse and addiction can lesson your values on your life and the lives of others. If you take med cocktails to make you feel good, then you might not be taking them for their intended purpose, to ease pain.

I am prescribed them together and they work fine with me.The danger of any of these drugs is that they depress your cns.Just be careful until you know how they'll affect you.

I think you would take them together if you are having spasms and are in Pain. Or if you were trying to get a Buzz. Personally I have taken them together as Prescribed (in the Past) and they do seem to Increase the pain relieving effects of the Hydro. IMHO

They are often prescribed together and the soma increases the effect of the hydro. They call this combination a "Las Vegas cocktail". It kind of speaks for itself, just dont over do it. You may end up not remembering anything from the time you took the pills.
