I read a 40 year old article recently written by a "Brit" who was commenting on (raving about) three "very gifted lads" with serious classical music backround doing a jaw dropping show in Belgium in 1971. They dispelled the notion of 3 chord repetitive rock and roll. Of course he was referring to ELP, one of my high school favorites. (dating myself here) I was lucky enough to find the show on you tube. (Check out "Take a Pebble" at the 29:30 mark)

At a glance it's as if a bunch of 40-50 year old are re-living their youth (as am I). Black Crow's? Love them! Stones, of course. But what about current crap. And it's all crap but none the less you hear it enough and it slithers into your brain (like it or not). Hence I've been plagued by Gaga, Minaj, Flo-rida, etc. But truly enjoy Rob Thomas, Maroon 5, Daughtry, etc.
Take or flush! LOL

I am definitly digging Indie folk. Artist such as Alexi Murdoch, William Fitzsimmons, Matt Walters, Fiest, Freightened rabbits and Damien Rice are all very inspiring. They are also fairly inexpensive to see in concert if you enjoy live music. generally $20.00 a ticket.

I'm still in the process of wearing out Arcade Fire's "Funeral"...I mean, it's only been a few years, so I'm not obsessed with it yet, right {gulps loudly}. In addition to that fine entry, I am fully immersed in the land of Radiohead right now in anticipation for an upcoming show.
Two new artist I have stumbled across recently int the now nearly all-pervasive "indie" category are The Lumineers and Michael Kiwanuka.
That Lumineers album is a nice little listen, but I'm not sure it has staying power in my collection.
Kiwanuka on the other hand sounds like Van Morrison and Otis Redding had a genetically engineered love child gifted with the ability to both pay homage to an old sound while simultaneously making it sound new and perfectly his own. Check him out...and for any US Football fans, he's not to be confused with Mathias Kiwanuka of the New York Giants.
I am hearing a song I thought was titled "skyrider". not the band , it's an older one, probably from the 70's. I'm having zero luck researching it and hoped someone would know that which I am referring to
its playing over and over in my head but I can't figure out a different title. I want to say it was the E.L.O band, but not sure
any help greatly appreciated

@screenname I am going there next month again and I live music city. I just love it. the only place it is not ideal for are the musicians!
Right now I am in a Counting Crows kind of mood as of late.
Them and Ryan Adams are taking a lot of space up on my playlists.
Late June for my next Nashville trip, can't wait to hit lower Broadway. Trace Atkins, Brandon Giles, David Gilmore, BB King, AWOLNATION, Leon Redbone, Devo. Saw them all in music city.
The Tubes, Lyle Lovitt, ZZ Top, Buddy Guy, Two Door Cinema Club, The Band, Jack White.
Van Morrison, The Doors, The Smiths, Elvis Costello, Nancy Griffith, John Lennon and of course the Beatles are among my Top Ten favorites of all time, but I am enjoying a Ministry of Sound compilation at the moment, Chilled Acoustic!
