Hmm, for me that would have to be Steel Magnolia's. The movie is funny and sad but it make me appreciate life a bit more. Julia Roberts played Shelby like a pro.

I guess it depends on what type of crappy mode I'm in but for now I'll say Office Space and Forrest Gump, Blind Side, Hangover, Gridiron Gang and also the silly stuff like Airplane and Naked Gun.
And for those that are into to martial arts, Ip Man is the best ever!

I don't think any of the other movies mentioned would work for me. Other than Wes Anderson films I think I'd go for I Heart Huckabees or The Wizard of Oz.
Glad to have a fan of Wes on the Forum. You defiantly need to see Moonrise, it has such an amazing cast and a great style. You an tell a lot of effort was put into the movie from the characters to the artwork. Anyways my fav Wes Anderson would probably be Rushmore, it put's me in a great mood.

One of my favorites has to be Crash, such a powerful message, I loved a Beautiful Mind , such an inspiration. The Hangover also good, but not as funny the 2nd or 3rd time around.

Run Lola Run - It has the most invigorating soundtracks I've ever heard.

The Virgin Suicides - Makes me happy I survived adolescence.

Oh, and every Woody Allen movie ever made!

When I am feeling like sick, I need a great slapstick! Space Balls always does it for me. Actually anything Mel Brooks does it for me.

When I'm feeling down in the dumps, I tend to watch the original Star Wars. My love for the jedi/sith resonates with my inner child!

Drugstore Cowboy. You know, that movie about procuring drugs from pharmacies in a way some may view unsavory? Pharmacy...sounds familiar...

I would have to go with Lost in Translation. It's a not a love story, but still makes me wonder what it would be like to have a life in different part of the world. The movie has a very calming feel to it as well. I've always been fascinated with Japan, and the scenery and environment in the movie always puts me in awe.

Even though it's fairly dated (pre cell-phone age) I still find "Play It Again Sam" hilarious. When Bogey tells him "Oh, I've had my face slapped plenty of times" and Woody replies "Yeah, but your glasses don't go flying across the room!" Also the club dancing scene.

Good question... several for me, really. Lord of the Rings is great... but only if you have about 11 hours to watch them all straight-through. Flirting With Disaster is hilarious!!! Especially the acid scene. And, of course, Animal House. But another truly great movie (but don't watch it if you're already depressed) is Terms of Endearment.
