Default Annoying things that made you stop dating someone

Some things just push you over the edge when dating someone. They may seem trivial to some, but you just can't deal with it.

About 10 years ago I was dating this really cool chick. She was beautiful, nice, and fun. I thought I found "the one." Our first night together, she was grinding her teeth so loud when she slept, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I've had insomnia most of my life and am a light sleeper, but I figured I could deal with it because I liked her so much. Well, a little while later she started farting really loud in her sleep. Something I'd be proud of myself, but it was just a major turn off. It wasn't just once, but she kept doing it every 10-15 mins and they were pretty stinky. I had to leave the room and sleep on the couch. That was the end of that one.

Another girl I dated was a lot like the other one in all of her awake qualities, but she had really bad breath. I just couldn't deal with it, it was like kissing an icubated E. coli covered petri dish. Yuck! Out the door she went.

Luckily I'm none of those, but I did have a case of excessive horniness when I was younger up til my late 20's. I'm a man, I can't help it. With age though, that part of me has passed.

Yeah, rudeness is a big one. I had a g/f that would yell at people over the phone and at stores/restaurants. She'd chew them out for things that I didn't think were that big of a deal. Also, you never yell at a server about the wrong order and ask for it to be replaced. Bad idea.

Liers, cheaters, and ugly feet . I am a foot person.

I once dated a guy in high school and my deal breaker with him was he always had to call mommy every time we went somewhere to tell her every minute if where he Would be. Seriously? We were leaving my house to run to grocery store to get some things for my mom. He had to call and tell his mom. Then we decided to stop by my best friends house to check on her as she had just had knee surgery, he had to call his mom when we arrived to her house and as we were leaving. I had to break it off without going to grocery store. I couldn't take it.

I dated a girl in college that had constant contact with her mom. She was a mommy's girl. Her mom was into every aspect of her life and wanted to know where she was and what she was doing at all times. My g/f went along with it and it annoyed me to hell. She had enough other redeeming qualities to stick with her for 3 years though. Her mom was also one of those people that would never shut up, she was on auto pilot. I was amazed she had time to take a breath. When we went to visit her mom, she literally talked non stop from when we arrived to when we left. Sometimes I didn't even say a word for a couple hours straight just wishing she'd have a stroke or something to shut her damn mouth. Ahhhhh!

    Excessive sweating
BO - once picked up a bf who was playing basketball and he ran home to change, my friends and I assumed he would shower. He threw a shirt on and was ready to go. He smelled bad and wanted to hug all night ...no. The end.

I'm glad no more dating in my immediate future. I teeth grind and found out because my husband told me. He's the fart'er/snore'er so it balances out.

years ago I pursued a young and educated woman from a prominent family, closely related to the former William F Buckley , the editor/ founder of the National Review.I will not say how close , but as i thought at the time, a girl of good values! I took that one special girl out to a large renovated plantation home turned into a ritzy restaurant, complete with ladies dressed in "gone with the wind" hoop style dresses. I'm always a watcher as to how a woman eats. i listened as she ordered withe her meal a slice of white bread. humm maybe to settle a woman's palate after eating After having a fine meal and before serious conversations that one special girl wipes her mouth with the slice of bread.Several laced napkins readily available. What the hell ! , I knew her mom was from the southern Spain, no problems there. For all I knew she would next wipe her hands off on my dog. [my four legged one @naughtysmurf] just an education in life. smokinjoe

In college I tried really hard to like this guy one time that on the surface would have seemed perfect for me. Family loved him, he surfed, played guitar, he was funny, sweet, very tall strong and handsome face and body. But, he had really curly frizzy blond hair. I just couldn't get past it....Oh, he was a bit of an airhead too. Could only hang out with him if I was high. But, I have had a few of those along the way.

So I guess bad hair and depth of personality are dealbreakers for me.

This was MANY years ago...I'm talking decades here (grew up in the 50's and 60's) but when I was an adolescent/teen, the really "cool" thing to do was to get a date with a lifeguard "down the shore" during the summer. My dad took us kids down for a week every summer (mom stayed home to get a break) and I took a girlfriend one year...I was about 15 or so.....and got into a conversation with this really nice-looking lifeguard sitting up on his stand one day....and was thrilled when he asked me out to this bonfire on the beach that evening and got one of his lifeguard buddies to take my girlfriend....like a double-date.

So....dad and us kids (I was the oldest) left the beach and went back and made some sort of dinner (we were pretty much roughing it in a travel trailer....boy, those were the days) and this car pulls up with these 2 lifeguards in it, to pick us up, and mine gets out of the car and I'll never forget....he was about 4 ft. tall. You couldn't tell when he was sitting up there on the lifeguard stand. My dad...who is over 6 ft. took one look at him, threw his head back....and just howled.....for a really long time.

We did go to the bonfire....and had a nice time. But needless to say....I had no more dates with him...whatever the heck his name was.
    And I'm not tall....barely 5'4".

Oh....and btw....the girlfriend I'd brought "down the shore" with us was taller than me....about 5'6"-5'7".....and the buddy this guy had brought along for her was as tall as my dad.
But then....I've had luck like this most of my life....unfortunately.

I once dumped a girl for being too clumsy. It sounds horrible but she was just one of those people that continually walked into things and knocked things over and broke things and it just used to really annoy me. She could walk into a room and I could predict what she would knock over before she even did it, she was that bad!

This will also make me sound like a horrible person but I also went out briefly with a girl who had OCD. She was what was known as a "cleaner" and she thought everything was dirty, would wash her hands and clean continually, put her clothes in the washing machine then when they were done put them back in again because she thought they were dirty. I couldn't deal with it, of course I just told her we weren't compatible though!

The only other thing that really puts me off someone is if they eat in a really disgusting way! Other than that they can pretty much get away with most other stuff, I'm hardly perfect myself so can't be too harsh with others!

    @smokinjoe

Maybe in the first instance, but after our first date she was left in no doubt that I am one dirty bastard!

I actually have one more to add.

Excessive tightness when it comes to money or abuse of generosity really bothers me. I'm kind of old school in that I will definitely pay for everything if I take a girl out and usually after that too but when I feel that it is not being appreciated or taken advantage of I wouldn't continue with it. I remember seeing a girl and we were seeing other each other a couple of times a week for a little while and I swear I can't recall her ever even offering to pay for anything. She had a good job too so it's not like she was broke, I wouldn't have let her pay anyway but she didn't ever offer and would do things like order a glass of champagne if I asked if she wanted a drink! No-one likes a gold digger!

I dated this one guy on and off for several years that used to punch (yes punch) or shove/yell at almost every single guy i ever would talk to. When he quit drinking we got back together and he STILL did it! Major anger issues.

Needless to say, for months after we broke up for good nobody would approach me LOL!

    Horror Stories...each and every one!

I was setup by a friend ( now ex-friend) years ago on a blind date. Well, I drove up to his neck of the woods for our first official date with plans for dinner and an evening out at the club. So, I meet him at the restaurant and he seems nice, attractive, and we have a lovely dinner and conversation. So far, so good. We leave the restaurant and go out to a club where I am told we will meet up with several of his friends to party. OK, I'm cool with that. We get to the club, get a few drinks and eventually a couple of his friends arrive where upon I am promptly introduced to said friends as his new lover! WTF? He proceeds to spend the rest of the evening telling me he thinks he loves me and how do I feel about him? WTF?
Well, I escaped to the bathroom and called a friend of mine begging them to wait 5 minutes, call me back on my cell, and pretend there was an emergency so I could vamoose!
This dude called me 3-4 times a day for about 3 weeks leaving me long, rambling VM's about how he finally found the "one" and why wouldn't I call him back.
    Super F**king Creepy!

    @cherrybomb~

I can tell you from experience...having been married to a serious alcoholic and rage-aholic for 30 years.....that they eventually stop scaring the crap out of you and you don't have to walk on eggshells all the time. Why? Because their medical problems and effects from alcohol become so severe that they end up becoming too incapacitated to do much damage or be too threatening.....and eventually become dependent on you to even have any sort of normal life. And the tables get turned.

Of course....you have to hang in there for many years.....and I'm just the disastrous co-dependent mess to do it, unfortunately. Wish I could get a do-over of my whole life sometimes.

And back to that handsome lifeguard who turned out to be 4 ft. tall......that was back when I was young and vibrant....headed to college in a few years...in good health....full of hope......and had not abused substances yet.

But NOW? I'd be willing to accept a 4 ft. tall guy....IF he had enough going for him. Ya know.....nice guy, smart, funny..........not abjectly poverty-stricken.
Priorities are a whole different list compared to back then.
But I didn't know back then (or live through) what I do now......or maybe that should be 'what I've been beaten over the head with since then' or something along those lines.

You look at things a lot differently when you have lots and lots of mileage on you. Youth is truly wasted on the young, isn't it?
In a perfect world, we'd get both youth and wisdom at the same time.
