    Default Oxytocin anyone?

    I'v been interested in this drug for awhile, it is used medically in obstetrics, (check wikipedia) however from what I've read it also is a party drug, romance and trust enhancer, one product is called liquid trust, the claims seem over the top. Sounds to good to be true. There are some legitamite.studies being done that sound promising, but no real sounding products yet.

    Thought I'd put this out, see if anyone else intrigued or knowledgable.

    Sorry, all I can think of when I hear that chemical is "Hell". After giving birth 4 times and having them use this crap each time I don't think I ever want to see it again. Just my opinion. Since males don't have to worry about labor they would never imagine what that evil drug does to a person in active labor!

    @Leap
    I believe its the hormone your body releases during sex/orgasms. Or something to that extent. I've heard of men injecting it before sex.

    Normal sex is good enough for me not to worry about stuff like that. I got enough drugs going through me usually.

    This chemical seems like iot could get a person reallly really high. But then again maybe not since it is somewhat natural. In any case- Im not too keen on messing with the pleasure chemicals in my brain. Especially this since it creates the feeling of love. If you took it to long maybe you could never fall in love again??

    This was an interesting talk on TED about oxytocin being related to morality.

    I believe lots of people have tried this already.
    Results have been far from promising, though.
    I do believe it is used in some types of fragrances to create artificial intimacy when dating or similar usages.

    So sorry to hear this! That is terrible. Oxytocin is a hormone that is produced, most notably, to facilitate child birth. I believe that the body produces the largest amount of oxytocin when it's preparing for labor.

    There's a synthesized version of this stuff called Pitocin that is administered to induce labor and it's extremely detrimental and can be fatal for both the mother and the child.

    I wish I could remember the name, there was a documentary on Netflix about the medical industry and the increasing number of induced pregnancies
    that focused on Pitocin and the dangers associated with it. If I can figure out the title I will post here if anyone is interested.

    It is the chemical as mentioned above that is released during sex . It is also believed to be responsible for the " in love" feeling that occurs within the first couple of years of a new relationship . It is thought to be responsible for facilitating monogamy in humans ( for a couple of years in an attempt to have the male stick around long enough to help with child rearing ) and other animals that form monogamous bonds ( prairie voles for example ) . I cannot imagine that it would be useful from a recreational standpoint , but it is often difficult to predict the effects of any chemical . I did go to the website of the makers of liquid trust and read their claims and at first glance it does seem a bit doubtful . The user is supposed to spray it on themselves to affect the attitudes and actions of others that they come in contact with . Since oxytocin is a peptide hormone and must bind a G protein coupled receptor for its actions , it would be necessary that those around the user were able to absorb large enough doses( perhaps through the nasal passages) for the receptors of those around the user to be stimulated . It is doubtful at least to me that this could occur in doses high enough to be meaningful . They are treating it as if it were a pheromone, but I dont think that oxytocin fits that bill . In vivo , it has action when an individual produces it within their own body and not by being exposed to that produced by their partner or those around them.
    Interesting though , and there may be much about the mechanism of delivery that I am not understanding from just a cursory glance of the website
