Medication Combinations

Hi all -

I am new here - enjoying getting to know all of you and your avatars.

I have been searching the forum for a thread on medication combinations and I have not been able to find much. Specifically I have searched using the words "cocktail" and "combination" - I have only been able to pull up info on @crucibelle ('s) birthday party and a PR gig in LV that I contributed too a few weeks ago!

I am wondering if any of you are using pain medication, sleeping/anxiety medication, AND stimulants.

I guess I am also just wondering what medication you are taking in general. I realize this information is sometimes available if I track your posts but that makes me feel like a stalker. Again, I also could not locate a thread specifically devoted to this topic. I'm sure some of you good PR's will be able to direct me.

I am thinking about (trying) to get a prescription for a stimulant (Adipex) to help me lose some weight. I need something to at least jump start this process - I don't think it will be a long term medication but I am a bit worried about how it will play with my currents meds.

I will go first:

Synthroid
Vicodin
Klonapin
Ambien
Vestril
Soma

@IGogh I'm conflicted whether to give you advice...I don't know about Synthroid or Vesteril and I've never like Soma personally. I don't care for ambien either.

It's hard to answer without knowing the quatitiies you are on. Seems like a strange mix of meds. I've used Adipex with downers - xanax and other tranquilizers and found that it helps me to stay alert. No adverse effects. I really just want to warn you....let me give you an example. I use to use Fiorinal in high doses ( a barbiturate) and at that time I regularly used Xanax. I thought mixing the two wouldn't be problem, especially since I wasn't taking a high dose of Fiorinal. Well, I became way too high on the two and was close to overdosing - very sick, was afraid to fall asleep and felt like crap the next day. This is called the synergistic effect where two drugs combined are far stonger than each considered by themself. If you get these drugs from a doctor, I'd suggest getting his opinion.

Having said that. I think Adipex is a stimulant and therefore is less likely to cause a problem, but stimulants are dangerous for anyone who has anxiety disorder or possilble heart disease. I've had about 30 adipex for like two years and have not found a reason to take them because my problem is anxiety. I've had problems with taking it without a benzo, so I'd be very careful. That's my experience.

I can see why you're worried. If you're routinely taking those meds and considering the addition of a stimulant you'll want a really careful doc to help you with your regimen.

I remember an old Mexican diet pill that mixed benzos and some kind of stimulant together in one pill, Redotex. I saw some people get pretty crazy on them too.

There must be a safer way for you to lose weight. People swear by eating little seeds and reducing carbohydrates, have you tried that kind of approach? I bet it would be a lot safer.

Thank you @Utopiate and @rational80 - I know I am in a gray area here and I have probably been too forthcoming on this forum. I am a "lay it out" kind of gal - which may lead to over-sharing which may lead to discomfort.

I have decided to go ahead a pursue obtaining a small quantity of this medication and to take it by the half. If I feel like it helps - I'm thinking I am going to work with two weeks - I will go to a clinic where I can get a prescription.
@rational80 - if you would like I can be clearer about the quantities I can PM you about them - if you think knowing that will assist you in dispensing advice. If this isn't your wheelhouse that is fine, too. I thank you for throwing your 2 cents in.
