First, start checking your blood pressure regularly so you know your own levels. Especially before you take the drug, 2 hours after you take the drug, and when you get your headaches. You can get an automatic machine at your local pharmacy for under 100 bucks. It is important for you to know your own BP in case of situations like this.
Your blood pressure should be lowest 2 hours after the drug because that is when you have the highest concentration of atenolol. If you notice that your BP is highest during the time of your headache, you should definitely tell your MD. Before you tell your MD, try and do the experiment for a couple of days so you can tell your MD it happens as a trend. If the headache is bad and your BP is really high, tell your MD immediately.
I am not a doctor and I am not telling you what to do. If you seek real medical advice, speak to your MD.
