You wouldn't. It is a poison.

In Victorian times ladies use to put a drop of "Belladonna" essence in their eyes to make the pupils dilate. At that time large pupils were believed to be more attractive.

One of the chemicals extracted from the belladonna plant was atropine. The ladies were poisoning themselves.
