Amiodarone... I have been taken off Amiodarone
How long will it stay in my body?
I am going on holiday and have been told to stay out of the sun.

Amiodarone does last a long time, it will be several months before it is completely out of your system. Use sunscreen and use this as an excuse to buy a really cool hat, and you should be ok. I live in South Carolina and never really had problems.

Be glad you are off that stuff. It is a good anti-arrhythmic drug, but it can destroy your lungs, your eyes, and your thyroid!

amiodraone has an EXTREMELY long half life.. like 60 days.. it'll be in your system for a while!!! and it has an active metabolite that has a long half life as well..

you'll be more sensitive to the sunlight.. just make sure you put sunscreen on anytime you plan on going outside.

good luck

I had been on amiodarone since 1992, In feb. 2008 I had an I.C.D. fitted. As there is not much sun around in feb. I'm afraid I can't tell you how long it stays in the body. But after 16 years of hiding from the sun it feels great to go out in the sun in t-shirt and shorts.
Hope everything will be o.k.
