I was researching plants such as Datura and Deadly Nightshade recently, and noticed that atropine is used in eyedrops. Would Atropine sulphate be the same chemical as found in these plants? Is there a difference between Atropine and Atropine sulphate?
Atropine sulphate is derived from deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna), jimsonweed (Datura stramonium), mandrake (Mandragora officinarum) and other plants of the family Solanaceae.
Re: atropine & atropine sulfate, atropine is the base or raw product from the said plants and atropine sulfate is the compound derived from atropine.
