Inderal for Anxiety
I have recently been going through a nasty bought of panic attacks. I spoke with my aunt recently who said that it runs in our family and that she and my grandfather have been struggeling with adreniline related symptoms for years. She has been taking a small dose of inderal and she says it works wonders. My sister takes inderal as well for specific situations. My dr. just perscribed me xanex and it barely helps.

My anxiety is worse in the AM, right when I wake up for some reason. Has anyone had a good response to indoral? If it could get me through the morning that would be so wonderful, my symptoms lessen throughout the day. When its happening, I feel like my arms and legs will jump out of themselves and I lose any ability to eat. Which makes me more anxious. Vicious cycle.

PS. My aunt works as an RN in the mental health profession and is very much AGAINST xanex or Benzos. She feels they are very addictive

Go back to your GP and tell him/her Xanex is not working for you. Make you GP aware of the family trait and ask if you could try inderal. You can but ask - if you don't get anywhere ask for a referral to a specialist at the hospital. (This is all assuming that you are in the UK).

Good luck

I am against Xanax and other Benzodiazepines. There is Propranolol (Inderal) and there is an XR version that is generic also. Benzodiazepines make it worse because when it is stopped it is 30000X worse. Inderal is a excellent it lowers the heart rate and it is not addictive like benzos. There is also a medication called Vistaril it works really well and it isnt addictive.
