valium vs. klonopin vs. xanax

I have G.A.D. and have been taking klonopin, but my supplier ships them from India. But they offer xanax and valium from Europe. So I'm trying to get an opinion if I should switch drugs or supplier, and to see what works best for others with this condition.

By the way my current vendor is medstore-online, I like them and have only heard good things.

i too have GAD and i have found the longer acting benzos such as valium and klonopin to control it well for me. Valium is the longest acting of the three, having several active metabolites that can stay in your system for days providing anxiety relief. Klonopin is more of an intermediate-duration benzo; it lasts longer than xanax but shorter than valium. xanax has the shortest half life of all three and due to this property is generally considered to be more habit-forming than valium or klonopin. in general, the shorter acting benzos are better for panic attacks and the longer acting ones better for general anxiety disorder (GAD). but everyone's different. the only way you will know is to try each one and see which works best for you. best of luck!

I have only tried valium and xanax for anxiety so far and find valium to be far better then xanax, just for having such a long effect. 10mg of valium a day is enough for me, if I take more I get very sleepy. Xanax is good if you can't sleep but other then that i just get drowsy from them. I have ordered Rivotril (Klonopin, clonazepam) and I have high hopes for them. Will give my opinion on them here when they arrive.

I've been on all three and to me Klonopin is like a Savior

If you have anxiety all the time, with bursts of really bad anxiety, Klonopin can't be beat. Stops anxiety attacks, stops the feeling that you can't leave your house for fear of being anxious and also helps you sleep at night; can't beat that!

I know a lot of people like xanax, but I can't imagine taking it because I've have to make sure there was some in my system at all times. I'd probably have to take 5,6,7 a day. When I took Xanax it helped me sleep. When I took Valium it helped me sleep, helped with muscle spasms but caused me to feel tired until lunch the next day. Klonopin does everything I need it to do without being drowsy the next morning (I'm scripted 2mgs a day, 0.5mg 4x a day).

I was also on Ativan at the hospital but don't remember how well it worked because they were also giving me 0.25mg of xanax and promethazine and pain killers. I always thought Ativan was probably close to klonopin but a little shorter acting.

@Lynx4 Thank you for your insight and as I'm also exactly like you when it comes to both valium and xanax I'm very hopeful about Rivotril/Klonopin. I'm extremly new to the whole benzo-world but I've been restless for as long as I can remember and being that makes one anxious as well so when I first tried valium (only tried cannabis before that helped but is too psychoactive for me and I stopped smoking it cause it changed my personality) it was a blessing. To feel relaxed and calm is so obvious to most people but I guess all you guys and gals knows it really isn't.

I know where your coming from. I too have GAD and have tried several meds to help. Valium has always helped me the most with out giving me to many side effects. Klonopin seemed to give me an unwanted feeling. Hard to explain. Also taking trazodone to sleep seems to help me with anxiety the next day too.

Thanks for all the input, I think I'll stick with the klonopin. But now for the second part of my question, should I continue gettin my supply from India, or should I search for a new op that will supply euro name brands.

I tooked Clonazepam 2mg and they are the best ....I used to pop Xanax 2mg long time ago but ...I think clonazepam are the best in the market now ...be side Valium too

For GAD (vs. Panic disorder or something like that), My recco would be to stick with valium (note I am not an MD or any kind of medical professional). It,s generally cheaper, easier to taper off (than Kpin or Alps), and you don't have to take it as often (e.g. xanax 4 times a day). MM/RXIOP has/had decent val for a decent price (Pax and Roche for a litttle more $'s) but you had to read up on whats going on with them...haven't used them for about 3 mos. AMC has had a good reputation, but I have no experience with them.

xanax is considered to be the most powerful anti-anxiety drug, but is also the most addictive. I was taking 2mg daily for 6 months, ran out, and began exhibiting the scariest withdrawl symptoms. My heart rate skyrocketed and I was having mini seizures. If you can avoid this medication I would strongly recommend it.

I just got real k-pins the old fashion way so I could compare to my last order, from 24 rx sales witch is not featured here. I'm pretty sure they are cut with something. Still waiting on my new order, confirmation number has said its still leaving India. I need a good European or us op. Not trusting anything from India anymore. AMC claims they have roch klonopin, thats what I'm looking for so please follow up on your AMC order.

@bakerted I made my order with the sister site AirmailMeds and I'm very confident it's genuine Rivotril/Klonopin as it will come in original bottle and they ship from EU & the products itself is supposed to be european. I dont know how long AMC & AMM will have the special price for this product so dont wait too long. @Swizzle : I have been on both, xanax at fast but 4 hours later I felt like Wtf I need more? Klonopin I take 1mg in the morning ( if needed its different day to day) then I'm good till maybe late afternoon or not at all. Also I have noticed with xanax they kinda knock me out and leave me feeling like a zombie. Klonopin from my experience seems to not only fight off the anxiety monster but also leaves me in good spirits, for me its defiantly a mood enhancer. Hope I was help.

@Swizzle You're very lucky to get such a doctor. Where I live you wont get benzos at once, ever. Sometimes that's of course a good thing but sometimes it makes you just give up after many appointments getting you no help. I would choose Clonazepam as well.

if you haven't been taking xanax i would recommend staying away from them...you probably know the half life is much less, and so withdrawals can hit people hard...it's like upgrading! as a xanax user, i am now trying to switch to klonopin or valium, and then do some more weaning to get completely off - well to not have the physical dependency that i so completely have! Xanax is the queen of benzo's - they affect your memory badly! sometimes i can't remember what i did last week. I am missing out on life! Perhaps you should stick with what you are used to...best wishes! wendles

I would stick with the euro's if they are legit. India Meds give me anxiety not trusting the contents and seem to get busted by customs more from my experiences.

Thanks for that information. I did not know that it had a longer lasting effect. Good thing that is what I am prescribed as my GAD has been worse recently and I was planning on asking my psych for a different med tomorrow (or today at this point) when I see him. Now I don't think I'll be changing.

the way the doc explained it to me was Xanax was right away relief but short lasting, valium in the middle, and Klon and more extended relief...so as you see fit. the Klon really work the best for me...if I were to do it again I would have went with Val....cheers!
