    Question Valium?? Suggestions

Ive had anxiety for the past few years I cant say its extreme but its enough to get in the way of my daily life sometimes. Personally i blame my anxiety on the recreational drugs Ive done when i was younger. Reading the posts on here ive noticed lots of people use benzos how would somebody with experience rate valium? Im not planning to take it daily but use it in situations where i need to relax. Im thinking of using either pres4u , airmail or shaz the first two seem like the quality would be better but the last is much cheaper...any reviews on the quality would be appreciated. Ive tried xanax before but it made me feel terrible.

Not really suppose to give out sources but medstore-online is ok. P4u is good had good luck with them. Airmail I hear is reliable. And there's lots of others just do a search or look at the top rated pharmacies.

I guess Diazepam is the 'Gold Standard' benzodiazepine, and it's effects are subjectively quite different to Xanax (Alprazolam). Like you, I'm not especially keen on the effects of Xanax. I did try some a couple of months ago, but they were not as effective for me as either of the two benzodiazepines I usually use for my anxiety and panic disorder - Lorazepam and Diazepam. A lot of benzodiazepines are metabolised differently from one person to the next and what might work for one could be less effective or useful for another.

Another advantage of Diazepam is that it has a very long half life, so it's effects are sustained for longer and require less repeat dosing than many other benzodiazepines. This is in particular contrast to Xanax which often requires multiple dosing throughout the day to sustain it's anxiolytic effects.

I would agree entirely with the other posters in terms of the reliable vendors they suggest. It's worth taking some time to read through the threads on both the "Pharmacies Featured In Review" and "Pharmacies Not Yet Featured In Review" sub-forums. You will definitely be able to find reliable poster's who have had experience with quite a few vendors that supply benzodiazepines.

You mention that you suspect your anxiety issues may have arisen from recreational drug use. My anxiety issues began after recreational drug use whilst I was at university. I have always felt my anxiety problems are due to my lifestyle choices. However, my doctor entirely disagrees with me on this and has said that, in his opinion, anxiety issues evolve out of learned behaviour and incorrect interpretations of stress or anxiety provoking situations, which leads to what is know as "catastrophic thinking". This could be borne out by the fact that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is often successful for those with anxiety issues.

    Good luck

@miffytherabbit My anxiety issues only ever arised because of my recreational drug use, before taking them i feel i was perfectly normal but whilst on them i got progressively worse. I've not seen many people post about such things i can relate to.

Just for a question could i ask how did the Lorazepam compare to diazepam when it came to social anxiety. Was it similar ?

Ativan (lorazepam) or Xanax in small doses is probably what your looking for if you need quick acting PRN (as needed) anxiety relief.

Valium and Klonopin have really long 1/2 lives and arent for instant relief.

@613 can you tell me what is the major difference between lorazepam and diazepam and i dont mean in general i mean specifically for social anxiety.

I know theres a half-life difference but when they are active is there much of a difference ?

Personally I find Diazepam to numb my brain a little too much. Ativan does fine for me when quick panic sets in.

Most doctors these days won't prescribe Valium for anxiety, unless you've been on it for a while......

everyone is different, but that is my take on it. If you have anxiety all the time, Klonopin is the way to go (IMO).....builds up in your system and has a 24-30 hour half life (which is a gift and a curse)

I am prescribed Valium for muscle relaxation in conjuction with ultram and it does loosen my stiffness up some but I am still able to stay awake (at a low dose 2-5mg) Every other benzo mentioned all induce sleepiness for me but work well for anxiety of which I believe I have overcome during the last 5 or 6 years. I used to have the castrostophic thinking years ago myself and self medicated until one day I just realized no meds can make my life easier but I can stop being so frantic because life could always be worse. About a week ago I almost took a xanax because I was at the end of my rope (a cop out on my part) but with a lot of deep breathing and "talking" to my mind and just putting one foot in front of the other, I made it through a situation and didnt kill anyone

If self medicating is in order, I have to second what was mentioned above, low doses because tolerance builds so quickly. IMO, Id stay away from xanax because it definetely calls you back to take more and more and its not easy to put it down or ween off of either and it does cause rebound anxiety quickly which is hard to deal with as well.

    @Jhon
I have been on valium for over 30 years on & off. It is the only thing that helps me with my anxiety, which can be severe at times. I have been told by psychiatrists that I have agoraphobia, fear of people/social situations. I don't know why it started, but it just happened one day when I was in my late teens, a severe panic attack, which then started happening all the time. For the first 10 years, I took them everyday as prescribed by my doctor. After that, I only took them as needed, I always knew what type of situations would bring on my panic attacks, so I would always take one when I knew I would need it.
For some reason, I have never felt any kind of buzz from them, & they have always worked, my tolerance hasn't built up to need more, but for me, they are a life saver to help me function in life as a normal person, & I only take them when needed.

I have tried zanax, lorazepam, klonopin, & many antidepressants, none of them worked for me as well as valium, but everyone is different in what helps them.

Also, for me, valium has always been easy to wean myself off, but going cold turkey is very dangerous. If you just need to take them occasionally, then you shouldn't have any problems, but like I said before, everyone is different on what works the best for them, & also with withdrawals.

It's best to work with your doctor to see what works for you personally, & I'm sure you will find the best med for you.
