    Default mylan alprazolam seem weak?

So I've been prescribed alprazolam from generics to brand. I do have a high tolerance but I just my prescription filled and ended up getting mylan 1mg. Seems like they have zero affect on me. The script before this I got greenstones and they were just fine. But these mylans just suck and I'm pissed. Have zero affect on me. Has anyone else noticed this? Got them from walmart pharmacy. Someone please give me some input I'm very frustrated. Thanks.

@Rhino236 The 0.5 mg round "orangey" color I get from CVS are crap when I fill my PRN script are crap in IMHO. I one batch (#30) go bad (change to white) after 3 months and they where in a dark temp/humidity controlled environment (firesafe in my living area). I've thought I saw one post that said the 2mg Mylans were good. I got a different type on last refill, 0.5 mg yellow ovals (I think they may be Mylans). Maybe they are better, haven't really tried them.

It's a sorry a day when you get better meds from IOPs than your corner pharmacy and their associated manufacturer and distributor.

@Carter yea I have some adco 1mgs from rxonlinepharma and they seem twice as strong than these crap mylan blue 1mgs. Ughhh I hate wasting money on supposedly legitimate medication that does nothing. I will pay more for brand or just stick with my iop that's been on top of things with quality meds. Thanks for you input. I'd like to get more input though before confronting my PCP.

We talked about this in a week prior I can't remember if it was one or two weeks ago but the discussion was mylan lorazepam and I also agree it is weak. I strongly believe I am not building a tolerance because I try only to take it as needed. Still it seems to take more and more to control my anxiety. In my opinion I do not think a brand name is stronger if you are in the US they are strongly regulated for real ingredients.

yeah this is by far the weakest that I have found. I really can't believe that CVS, a respectable pharmacy, would carry something notorious for a weaker formula. I switched pharmacies just because of that. So am I under the right facts that Xanax is all generic or was it pfizer who have them. Are they stronger than greenstone or the yellow buses

My Mylan #30 30mg. Temazepam is weak but I'm not complaining 'cause I get them from CVS for ten bucks every month and they just keep re-filling it without authorization. And they gave me #100 instead of #30 4 months ago, f*ckin' clowns.

Mylan is the round one, right? Maybe it's a psychological thing, since all the other generics mimic the name-brand product.

The Mylans really are low on the totem poll. They are weak.

If alprazolam is prescribed and the pharmacy dispensed that crap then tell your doc and
have scrip noted by the doc as DAW (Dispense as written) to the name brand. The pharmacy
then fills it that way. Of course it is more expensive, but you get something that works
    and need less per dose.
I call around and ask pharmacies what they are filling with when a generic is available.
I then go and get it filled at the one that has a decent generic.

Yea I personally don't like any of the mylan products but that seems to be what I get mostly from my pharmacy cuz my insurance pays for generic only. But 90 1mg pills only cost me 50 cents so I can't complain too much. I most recently got Geneva brand blue footballs with the imprint gg 258 I find them very weak as well. Out of the generic Xanax I like savage brand the best. Just my 2 cents

Sorry about the above post I meant to say dava brand. Damn auto word completer on my cell phone

Problem is, it can be way more expensive. Here are some prices from drugstore.com (a legit site):

    90 tabs of 0.25 mg: $136.39
    90 tabs of 0.5 mg: $167.97
    90 tabs of 1 mg: $204.96
    90 tabs of 2 mg: $362.96 (!)

At those prices, I'd rather just order the name-brand from a "BI" site and take my chances with the lack of a legal script.

By contrast, here are the same prices for the generics (brand not specified) at drugstore.com:

    90 tabs of 0.25 mg: $15.97
    90 tabs of 0.5 mg: $17.95
    90 tabs of 1 mg: $16.97
    90 tabs of 1 mg: $22.96

Also, almost no health insurance will pay for the name brand when a generic is available.

(One exception: I had a friend with TRICARE coverage, since her dad was retired military. I think she could get any name-brand med on request for like a $6 co-pay, regardless of generic availability. And if she wanted a generic, that was even less.)

As another poster suggested, the trick with alprazolam is to find a pharmacy that dispenses that Greenstone generic. It's made by the same folks who make name-brand Xanax. Kinda like NAPA store-brand motor oil being Valvoline in a different bottle.

Like I said above I was taking DAVA brand Xanax for awhile and they seemed to be very good quality. I've taken many generic Xanax and I like them the best. Worst I've had are mylan and Geneva/sandoz.

Drugstore.com is way over list price.
Call a local pharmacy and ask them what Xanax name brand cost.

Last time I got it was about a year ago and 30 1mg name brand cost me about $38.

I called around local pharmacy cuz I was going to pay out of pocket cuz I got another script too early and price for 90 1mg generics was between $39 -$50 . I couldn't believe it was so high for generics. I guess I'm spoiled cuz with my insurance I pay about 50 cents a script.

My wife was scripted xanax for 25 yrs so I'm very familiar with this
problem. Use internet or yellow pages call every walgreen's, rite aid, Costco
and see if they carry the Actavis/Purepac or the greenstone.
    Those are the best generics.
If they don't have it try the small Mom & Pop or compounding pharmacies.
Just ask "Who is the manufacturer of your generic xanax?"
Also "What is the price for a #50 count of 1 mg?"
Mylan, Sandoz & Barr have a poor reputation apparently.
I have the same issue with ambien. Northstar & Teva have corned the market
but I found a small place that carries Qualitest which are decent.
    GL!

It is $15 at Wal Mart here for generic 90 1mg. No co pay. It is on their top 100 list so
the most they charge for 30 pills is $5 if it is a generic.

I think its just the area I live in everything is so expensive due to the federal gov , I live in Maryland right outside DC it's crazy exspensive to live, eat, housing etc. Matter of fact we only have one Walmart in my county go figure.

Im going to get 90 more .5 milligram xanax today so I'll see how much that cost out of pocket

As I said yesterday I got 75 more .5mg quallitest but it cost me $39! Hell Kmart wanted $56 that's ridiculous. Just a side note doctor supposed to give me 90 but he's a dickhead.

Did you call Wal Mart for a price check?

It may be a regional thing as to which generics are on the top 100 list. I thought the
pharmacy staff told me it is based on the most prescribed generics nationally, but I could be wrong.
