A perfect visit.

Today I met with a new psych, my first appt with him. Ill sum it above then elaborate. I walked out with 3 RXs, one for 3 2mg Klonopin daily, 4 refills, 1mg Xanax, 40 tabs 2 refill and 20mg Paxil 1 refill. I met with the guy for about 15 minutes and was out the door. He asked if I tried Prozac and said I had and it made me feel like @sambobs balls after a mexican meatball taco ala chode w/ extra mayo. He also asked if I went to college, which I did, 4 yr in comp sci, and I was dressed in an expensive suit, tie, shiny black shoes and all. I looked like I could either be a 1. Lawyer or 2. Hired hitman or 3. Guy in opening scene of a porno. I think these 3 things are KEY in getting perscribed benzo medication. 1. Your look 2. Your education and 3. Your previous reaction to a SSRI. If you go in looking like a bum, no education and never tried prozac, your chances of getting a benzo script are little to none. My psych actually said I was the best looked patient he's ever had when I was leaving. It also helped I picked a psych that had 8 violation/sanctions against him by the state so that told me he used to be an addict and is prolly cool with it and more apt to be liberal with addictive meds. So to sum it up. Look the part - Act Smart (if it doesn't come natural) and be confident - eye contact etc. Also when asked for symtoms - clamy hands, nausea, throw up, feeling of drowning, can't breathe, racing thoughts, pounding chest, feeling of being trapped w/ no escape etc. I hope this info helps those of you who have a hard time getting the anxiety meds they need. This post is inteded as a general guide on how to potentially get the meds you need without trying every single SSRI out there (and there are a lot) Look the part. Play the part. You'll get treated like the part.

Yeah back when I had more nefarious intentions during my partying days at the uni I easily talked my way into a 3 one mg K's three times daily 3 one mg X's three times daily and trazadone one each night for sleep.......if you do your research and like LO who laid out some excellent advice it really is not that hard to get a psych to prescribe you meds.

They also have a state operated clinic that keeps a psych psychologist who as we know can not prescribe meds which is who I saw......but they can and will gladly recommend meds for your PCP, which worked out great.

I know folks get nervous around docs but all they can say is no....what is the worst that can happen? They say no I don't prescribe that or will not prescribe that and you are on your way

I do have a bit of GAD though tbf.......although most of it is performance related, at that time it was school but before those years sports played a big part in my issues.

Crew suit jacket helps. Gives you confidence. For all the Dr knows you have a doctoral in whatever and hes intimidated by you. Also I kinda disagree with @Massiveamounts - I think it can be easy, but it also can be a BITCH. I wasn't out drug seeking when I saw this doc, only looking for relief from my debilitating anxiety, and I happen to end up with things that work. Drs are smart, they might say they want you to do SSRIs first just to see, but they really might be thinking "This dude is a ****ing junkie no way am i writing him a perscription for a benzo, plus I think I saw him on Good Wll Humping on ShowTime at like 2am last night....Also this doc ran his own small priv practicve, didn't have access to any of my past health records from other Drs etc, didn't see I am RX'D suboxone, nothing. Got to love private practice. With a good look and sharp attitude you can get a Dr to write you almost anything, its confidence that people run short of.

btw LO be careful with that Paxil......or any SSRI, I just do not like the idea behind the interaction with those chemicals and how they work in your body mixed with your particularly body chemistry......because certain folks body chemistry really does not mix well with those type of drugs.....suicidal thoughts all kinds of really nasty shit. Like it or not people judge one another by their physical appearance. I just couldn't believe he perscribed 2mg 3X a day...on the first visit I was like holy shit I felt like I shoulda asked him if he wanted to do a J or something lol. But yeah this guy has 8 infractions between 2007 and 2012 like 3 each year I can't believe he still has his medical license. He does pain management too if I ever need pre measured syringes of oxymorphone I know where to go, I don't he blinks twice about hooking up the good narcotics...nothing but Dilaudid and Opana with some Fentanyl in the mix...maybe thats what happened, overperscribing narcotics....that sucks.

No act, its just how I dress, I happen to have a 4 yr degree and already tried Prozac, happens I got a good Doc. And yes I am very careful with my benzo intake, funny enough though I have never withdrawn from them, pretty crazy. I withdraw bad from opiates, but I can drop benzos and not even get a nose itch....not that I am going to try my luck. Bottom line - be yourself, as you are the one that needs treating not whomever you portray yourself to be.

Are you talking about Drs in general Keith? This one hardly had anything pulled over his eyes, I told the truth to his 3 questions, I always dress nice so I wasn't preparing for an "act" persay, and the end result was good. You aren't the only one who "Keeps it Real" (Father forgive me for I have sinned and used a term that died in the late 80s and is so gay not even confession can erase the embarassment ) Because another member got medication doesnt mean you should throw in a snide comment and rain on the parade, instead try being supportive instead of a butthole? The world does revolve around us all, esp with some members here, with egos that big they got a few galaxies revolving around their head at any given time

Ooh the shade and drama of it all!!! I understand the points being made here and @LiquidOrgasm I think you are right too. Doctors are very sensitive to giving out certain meds because sooo many junkies are trying to score them which, unfortunately, puts many legit patients in a position to have to play the game in order to get what they need. I can't blame doctors per se, I mean their livelihood is on the line if they are caught feeding an addict. Sure you don't have to be in a Zegna suit (although fabulous) to be a real person in need but I think that a true desperate addict wouldn't be able to do all that you did to appear with it. Perhaps you were just crossing all your T's and dotting all your I's. This is not to say that addicts don't manage to get prescriptions all the time.
