    Default Western union

I sent mtcn number and recievers name he could not pick up due to I didn't have name exacty as specified first name middle name maternal & paternal
I never saw where on form to add those names. It ask for country, first name & last name. I sent the first & last name & mtcn he could not pick it up. I checked mtcn money is still there. Where on form is this? Is this normal?
Can I go into western union and change form for receiver?

Anyone had this problem before for Mexico?

Hope I didn't loose money! I checked & money is still there.

You don't have to feel nervous about it my friend just go to your nearest western union office and tell them the problem they will do the necessary changes and after that your man will able to pick the money.
    It happens sometime.

I do believe that there is a western union form for mexico by its self. so many people send money down their that they have different forms-at least where I am at. on the regular western union form in the top box its for first name and below is for last name- last last name and last name. it will be best to go down to the western union place and get corrected. maybe they can do a simple swap if not then get the money refunded to you and resend. calling western union maybe a hassle.

I just filled out a WU the other day and can tell you that there was a spot for all of the things you mentioned above. Just go to WU and ask for them to help you make the changes you need. I hope you used your real name because they will ask you for ID most likely to change anything.

Make sure you ask the agent to read the screen before they send the money because the agents really have problems inputting the paternal, maternal, etc. Be very specific with them and tell them that all 3 or 4 names listed must be inserted.

Just one question. Do you regularly send money to this person in Mexico? Reason I ask is because I had the same problem with WU. I tried to make business with someone in Mexico, so I filled out the form with the exact first and last name, and sent my receiver the mtcn number. That person though was red-flagged by WU for fraudulent activity so WU would not allow them to receive the money even though they had the mtcn. Note that there are many people with the same first and last names but Im guessing the way they narrow them down is for example if John Doe from Tijuana is red-flagged but not John Doe from Monterrey. This is very common and I am not saying that is your case but its a possibility. Fixing the problem is easy thought, WU will let you know why they cant transfer your $ and will give you a full refund. Expect the agent to ask you to call the 1-800 number thought, if so call them in front of them using their phone. Hope this helps

This is very good advice. Almost every Western Union I've ever sent has been typed in incorrectly by the clerk the first time. It's really amazing how consistently they screw it up. If you don't catch it until after they've sent it, you can still get them to change it, but it's more of a hassle.

This is very interesting. I've never used WU. But it almost sounds like the agents are instructed to make a typo on the name so that the recipient can't receive it, requiring the sender to make changes. But if the sender used a fake name, then WU gets to keep the cash. What a scam!

Lol, that would be a pretty good business plan I suppose. In all honesty though, I think it's just the clerks aren't use to doing western union transactions and have poor typing/spelling skills. I usually send from grocery stores, choosing different locations and chains for each transaction so I have a hard time imagining it's an unwritten policy. It just seems to be carelessness for the most part.

Now they want senders full name maternal & paternal long with city state, phone number and address. This is a new form they said for Mexico. They told me they are having a lot of problems. So I ended up going to money gram and doing it through them.

I didn't receive any of that information with my recent order...I assume these WU forms with the maternal/paternal entries only for Mexico?

Always check your western union receipt before you leave the shop. Even if a name is mispelled by one letter chances are it is enough for the transaction to not go through. Check your destination and dollar amount as well.

Here is the latest on Western Union. I just had my second transfer in a row cancelled by WU. The 2nd time I asked the rep. and she said that the location and reciever (south of the border) automatically placed the transfer on hold. She said in the future I would have to call WU right after the transfer is made to be "interviewed" by someone that would ask alot of questions. I decided no way jose and sent w/ Moneygram and no problems, (at least with the payment part). WU also did this with a transfer going to another country - basically if it is out of the USA they will probably cancel the transfer and refund your money.
This is a recent thing that started a few weeks ago but otheres have had this happen for a while now.

I keep hearing this about WU canceling transfers going to Mexico automatically. That is crazy because there are so many people that send money to Mexico for family members and what not so I can't even imagine how much money they are losing not only with the transfers but with the extra manpower needed to interview every single person attempting a transfer to "that" area. I heard one person say that an agent told her they were doing this with ALL transfers going to "that" area. Two days later, I was able to send money to "that" area with no problems so they obviously hadn't been doing it to everyone. Maybe now they are. I definitely like Moneygram now. The only thing is doing it online there is a limit per 30 days. I used to switch if I hit that limit but wont be able to anymore if WU is acting like that. I dont do well with interviews. My mouth turns to mush and so do my brains. I wonder if MG is going to follow suit with WU as per the request of LE/DEA to help fight the "war on drugs" Those poor people trying to send money to their familes and not being able to must be really happy about this.
