WU problem - "blocked" name

Hi,

I used WU so many times with no problem but 2 days ago I made another transfer for my order. Everything was ok but my source contacted me today to change the moneyreceiver name because the previous name is "blocked" and they are not able to pick up the funds.

I called WU and they said that everything in ok and the funds are available. Anyway, my transfer is "On Hold" when I check WesternUnion.com

My transfer is for a person in Asia but I don't know if it's important.

I'm happy to hear any opinion about my "blocked" transfer. How can I fix the problem?

western union does this from time to time when they red flag a name . if you did your transfer with an online account ( you have to set one up tied to a credit card ) you can just cancel it . if you did it in person with cash ( ,i hope you used your real name ) take your paper work to the office you used for the transfer and they can get your money back after the cancelation process. if you did a transfer and used a ficticious name , well you just lost that money but on the bright side you remained annoymous .

No, I used my real name but I hope the moneyreceiver name will be available again and it's not necessary to take the funds and resend them...

You need to call up WU and find out the reason for it to be blocked. I don't think they would unblock a name if they have conclusive evidence that something shady is going on with the receiver.

Ya that just happened to me yesterday. I sent my western union payment to my source and two days later i got an email telling me they could not pick up funds cause the name they gave me was blocked. So they had to give me another name to use to pick up funds. There was know problem getting my funds back from western union. As soon as i got my funds back, i sent back to the other name they gave me. First time for me that happened.

What's the reason for the name was blocked?

I have a chance to block a name if my source don't ship as promised?

What's the way to unblock a name?

I don't think you can unblock a name once a unique mtcn # is established.
Personally I'd go for the refund but you could call and ask to see
if you can change receivers.
I try to send funds within 24 hrs of receiving info to avoid this.
If you wait 3 days, that receiver may have been retired.

This has happened to me on a few occasions. Each time I had no problems at all. I called WU, I did NOT mention the receiver being blocked, and I asked for a refund. I would recommend doing the same and keep it simple. Just get your refund and send funds to new receiver. No need to start asking WU questions on why your receiver who is blocked can't receive any more "illegal" money... lol

I meant that I'm able to contact WU to block a name if I send money to a sorce that don't send my products (scam). Or what's the way to block a name used by a scammer?

Can't be done by regular joes who send $.

It is done by LE or WU or MG when a receiver has rec'd over a certain amount of $ from too many people in too few days.

WU/MG aren't there to enforce transactions between buyer and seller (especially if you're using it to buy from pharmacies). They just don't want people using their service for illegitimate purposes (whatever they might be), and will block receivers if they suspect so.
