It seems weird that you just lost your insurance and are turning to medicare. Unless you're disabled or over 65, medicare won't blink an eye. Have you researched all options to get yourself insured? It is unusual for an insurer to just drop you without alternatives.

You should be eligible for COBRA benefits while you are waiting for Medicare. I don't understand how you could be disabled with social security's definition and be employed at the same time. Their definition is about as strict as it comes.

You should do some research. There are provisions for extended insurance for employees disabled while covered under an employer plan for up to 18 months to cover the Medicare waiting period. Check it out. Something isn't right.

@lb65 You have to understand that so mnay people come here looking for high powered painkillers and each has a story of woe. My colleague here, @billyboy1965, is likely thimking the same thing I am...if you are in the system awaiting Medicare to kick in, there are government mechanisms to get crucial meds while you wait for your paperwork to clear. I know from experience that is usually how it goes, unless you are looking for something stronger than they gave you.

Many of us are sometimes frustrated by the lack of effort from newbies in reading the rules and guidelines or searching the forum for what they are looking for. I suggest you start in the rules and guidelines, introduce yourself and let us get to know you too.

As far as painkillers are concerned, Schedule I,II and III are only allowed to be discussed in the senior section, which requires you to have 60 quality posts, 30 reputation points and be here at least one month before you can get access.

I suggest you speak with the social worker handling your paperwork and explain your pain issues; here are always "bridging" programs for stuff, hence our curiosity about why your trying to buy online which is traditionally VERY expensive AND applying for Medicare. Just sounds fishy.

I know whats its like to be in your shoes, there are some international pharmacies that sell something that will help you out, I don't think I am allowed to list the name of them in the open forum but if you use the search and search using the name or method the way mail arrives from other countries to the united states you should be able to find something. I think thats a decent hint without me breaking the rules. I personally went into the offtopic forums and just had some fun for a few days and racked up my post and point count. I met a whole bunch of cool people too... That should get you into the SR forums quickly

Good luck keep your chin up and I hope I helped. Remember to click on "post was helpful" when someone actually helps..

    Have a great weekend

Just read the threads here. You will fund what you seek even without sr status. You have to realize with this type of site we gets folks who come here drug seeking and wanting sources right off the bat without doing ANY work. Sometimes it gets just down right tiring answering those post.

Hopefully you can find your meds you seek until Medicare can kick in. Here is a thread to start at:

Forgive me for the misunderstanding and I do apologize. I was attempting to help with the insurance issue. There shouldn't be a need to wait. And with the mention of the eye, now it falls under presumptive disability. Really, talk to a social worker to speed this along.

@lb67, I think we started out on the wrong foot if all you saw was criticism. Your post raised a couple eyebrows, but if you read what was said, we were all trying to help you and @billyboy1965 and myself zeroed in on the medicare thing for a simple, innocent reason: you should be able to get the meds you need cheaply or even free using the system in place surrounding Medicare, etc rather than spend your last $400 on a weeks worth of relief. We ARE suspicious of many new folk because we are more family than forum here and we protect one another and the information that helps those desperately in need. If we have misjudged you, your participation and actions will prove that and evrything will be fine.

You will need patience and the willingness to participate in our community, just like Demi, who is only a couple of weeks away from becoming a full-fledged senior member. People like her we welcome with open arms and open hearts and we hope you are another keeper too. We ALL need the extra support of n open mind and an open heart.

ok man, i see that i over stepped by asking that question.thank you for explaining your "community". i was not trying to break in, and i did see what you were trying to do as far as trying help, it was the suspicion that set me off,but i can see your point. so i will explain. my medicare kicks in next month along with my sup.insu. ,and i have plenty of meds to see me through. i was just checking out these online pharms. to see if they were lagit there are some meds my wife needs that here insurance will not pay for, and i wil have a donut hole in my coverage soon with the cost of my meds.so,i'm sorry for any missunderstanding and i would like to step back and start over.i will check out the regs better before jumping back in.i hope this is cleared so we can move on.i am sorry for jumping to the head of the line i just didn't know. i would like to thank UGAgal for your post it was helpful.thanks for taking the time.
