Well methadone is much stronger than subs and also the withdrawal from methadone is considered by most the worst of all opiates including heroin. Methadone can also be used for pain management but mostly as a last resort due the addiction and side effects, withdrawal etc.

Pain doctors can write a script for methadone for pain but for opiate maintenance you have to go to a methadone clinic or at least that's the way its supposed to be, I'm sure some doctor somewhere would write a script for maintenance therapy but legally their not allowed to.

Alot of people consider the euphoria of methadone to that of a skin pop of H and others don't really feel much euphoria at all. I personally take 70mg daily of liquid where 1ml equals 10mg if I'm not mistaken. I only have to attend the clinic twice a week cuz of my earned take homes due to clean UA. Some people have to go everyday. The clinic I go to is very lax and they don't kick anyone out for anything but that's because its a private place and cost $14 a day.

The government run places are more strict and may make u attend meetings and will kick u out for dirty UA.

For me personally methadone works much better than subs and the structure if having to go in everyday in the beginning can be very good for some people.

Now if you don't have much of a tolerance or habit methadone is not the way to go, it will just increase your tolerance and like I said the withdrawal are complete hell! You can pretty much get as much as you want until you receive a "stable dose" alot of people lie and just keep getting more. There is a certain maximum allowed by law but I forget what it is.

I stayed at 70mg and that's not real high or real low, they start out at 30mg and go up from there. The feeling I get is like a good feeling but comes on much slower than other opiates, it takes about an hour or more to get that warm feeling and for some makes u sweat alot and very constipated.

Honestly I would try subs first but like I said depends on your addiction and how serious you are about getting clean. Also methadone will block out other opiates unless you take say more oxycodone than you do methadone but obviously you can od that way and benzos can be very fatal mixed with methadone. It is definitely not something to fool around with and it stats in your system for about 48 hours that's why its so effective but on other hand its still in your system long after the feeling is gone and that can be very dangerous if you take more or other meds.

Also it can be fatal if you take without a tolerance and like I said especially mixed with benzos. Alot of people use benzos or soma to potentiate it. My advice stay away

Also forgot to mention somebody using for pain management would not be taking as much as someone on methadone maintenance and pills only go up to 10mg but they make dispersible wafers in 40mg but they are horrible and don't dissolve very well in my experience

sry to jump in on @Coheed ? Methadone was the precurser to suboxone. Most people know it as the w/d and maintanance med for heroin addicts. I remember when I told my PM dr I wanted off the sub(cost$495/month) he prescribed meth and my reaction was I've never done heroin
well the meth was around $30/month so I tried it. I was coming off fentanyl patch after fusions. as soon as i did my research thing i cut the dose to 30mg/day. It is a very strong pain med. but very addictive. the dr. was amazed the next month(at this PM u had to have an appt. every month $50 out of my pocket. )anywhoo he didnt want me to lower the dose and prescribed 50mg/day! dUH !!! I was already down to 30. cont. to decrease but its a very hard drug to w/d from. It has a long half life so it stays in your system just enough to make u think u need more.End of story is i had 1 more pm clinic visit and told dr. i wanted a med. prn(as needed) it was denied,never went back and am never going on meth or sub again

Idk but from my exp with malli pain meds I did not care for most they made aside from their oxy IR they seem to be up to par but their hydrocodone has some type of filler or something in it that is hardcore on my stomach, I have had issues with my stomach all my life though with ulcers and whatnot two sports related hernia ops and a titanium mesh basket to hold me guts in so it might just be me but they were really hard on my stomach, did not have that issue with any other hydrocodone. I changed pharmacies because of their use of mali's in fact.....but again it might just be me because of my history of stomach issues.

Yes methadone is very strong the clinic only lets a person go down 5mg every two weeks I believe as to not experience withdrawal symptoms. Also you have to go down to 30mg done to transfer to subs.

@Coheed and @betsky - basically it is changing one opiate for another to try and kick an opiate habit....but it just creates another habit. Crazy? My attorney friend has a client who ownes a methadone clinic, which is why I ask and why it entered my mind. I still don't get why you would take methadone...why not just take Oxycontin. What is the diff. Biff?

And if there telling you they can ween you off meth that just a big fat lie. When you have the time get some subioxen 8mg.strips and over the period of a week cut it from 8 mg to 2 mg. at he end of the week your clean. If you pick up the dope real quick you have decided in that deepest place in your heart that you going out with a rig in your arm or with a life sentence.

I got banned, because my IP address was flipping all over the place, and i recommended a vendor, so they thought I was a shill. Once they realized that I travel constantly for work, they realized it was an error. Hats off to the mods and @drboris, because they apologized to me and took responsibility. I hold no grudge. Usually when I am gone for a while, it is because I on a work trip somewhere. Now the mods know that I travel 200 days a year for work...they know my IP address changes all the time. Not knowing where or how I was gonna get money for my habit. I was spending $200 or more a day on dope and pills. Obviously you haven't been in this game long or you would know how it is to live life like that.

Keep messing around with opoids and you will get there.

I feel my life would be much more stable on Methadone. But the w/d's from it and the fact I can't drive and the nearest clinic is a ways away are my drawbacks. But it does work WAY better than bupe. ~sub

Methadone is used for persons in my circumstance as a short term med. to wean off the fentanyl. Methadone satifies the receptors in the brain that crave the opiod. However it does not create the euphoric high of other drugs which is why it can be used as a long term "substitution". it can be looked at in the right circumstances as a diabetic who needs insulin. this is a VERY general statement and MHO. i use opiates in few occasions when I just can't stand it anymore. i have gone weks w/out a pill and i have had weeks were i've taken 1 or 2 a day. AGAIN this IMHO.
