If Obama didn't get push this country into so much debt I would be voting for him. I'm going to have to go with Romney this election.

Do we have a choice, no matter who we vote we're going to get someone who doesn't have our hearts and minds at bat. In my humble opinion only the ruthless and fake make it far in politics, they really care about their own fame and make promises to make money. They then fill out those promises to ensure their own pockets are filled after they're out, and regardless how bad those promises are they brainwash themselves to think it's really a good idea, then attempt to brainwash the public with themselves being brainwashed, all the meanwhile the bottom line in the first place was that they did it for money.

^Can't argue with you at all. Pretty much everything you said is right on par. It's crazy to hear the rumors that Obama will have a billion dollars to use. That is just insane how much money will be blown.

@argon18, if u dont think romney and his supreme court pals and packs are going to have as much or more to spend than the POTUS, then you're very naive. Remember "corporations are people too my friend" BTW, the debt came from Bush. Two unpaid wars and his prescription drug plan. Meanwhile, we have a president who has gone out of his way to compromise and just keeps getting kicked in teeth. Sorry, had to edit again, check out how much the Ryan budget is going to add to the deficit.

Man, anyone who gets involved in this thread is just going to be involved in a pissing match. Don't ya know you never discuss politics or religion with strangers?
Let's just all agree that right now we are screwed. How about that?

I suggest you read the tax implications of Obamacare. The tax impact on the middle class and small business is not favorable.
I own my business and my CPA and my business partner and I are already discussing the tax structuring starting January 2013 and January 2014.
Chief market analysts I'm in contact with share the opinion that the Supreme Court will rule against it.
Also up for vote, and nobody's talking, is the temporary tax reform, ending 12/31.
Gay marriage will become an issue. I'm a gay guy and I do NOT support gay marriage. I support domestic partnerships (civil unions) for tax and pension advantages. But my partner and I wouldn't benefit from Social Security laws and filing together.
Pensions are a thing of the past; most gay partners I know both make similar salaries and Social Security isn't an issue.
As far as hospital rights, Power of Attorney, transfer of assets at death, any good lawyer can arrange that.

First off, Obama instilled two female liberals into the Supreme Court since he was elected.
Secondly, the impact of economic decisions often take a lot longer than two presidential terms to appear.
The housing crisis and bank crash of 2008 came from Carter, Clinton and a Democratic Congress.
Debt is not our biggest issue. Try joblessness and corporations who are sitting on billions of cash they refuse to reinvest in the worker; and banks who where given a nine month warning about the Card Act and jacked millions of people by raising their APR to 29.99%. Oh and the nasty bit about terrorism which is still very much a HUGE threat.
The problems stem from both sides. Politicians at heart are narcissistic greedy people.
And so many Americans do not even stop to really think about this logically.
The Repubicans keep making the same mistakes over and over again. STOP talking about pro-life, gay marriage and Christianity. This isn't the 1950's anymore, we all drink out of the same water fountain. Instead please start talking about all the fiscal reform that you claim makes you superior. And the logic that a man is not white is somehow going to make him a better leader just goes to show how ignorant and brainwashed by PC propaganda people are.

Let me just say that I'm right on-board with Piper's post a few posts up (am a registered democrat) and leave it at that.
I make it a policy not to discuss politics except in rare instances.
So I am likewise fleeing.![]()
I wont get started here ,much but i have spent agood deal of my life defending our constitution and what it means. i wear scars proudly. @Piper Good or bad obama does not have the power to unite. It is about the congress people! we have to have a mix of both repubs and dems in congress to keep checks and balances and are willing to work together.. They can control what justice dept and what president does in taking apart our constitution. How many of you have called your U.S. represenatives or U.S. senators and give a piece of your mind, and asked them about the money in each of their personal ,political action funds. All have them have them.
majority rules last time i checked VOTE

@Billyboy I agree with your cost- benefit analysis.
And that gay marriage will continue to gain support (but will not decide this election)
Sounds like you've adapted, which is smart in a system that doesn't entitle you to certain protections. Not having kids (if you don't) is less complicated, but last I read there are over 14 million kids being raised in "same sex couple" households. Their issues are not so easily managed without marriage protections. After reading the prop 8 challenges by Boise and Olsen, I find civil unions sound eerily similar to "separate but equal".
Now to the lawyers who bleat dire warnings of three people and their pets marrying, my pat response "those will be separate challenges." I don't ride slippery slopes.

@rippedhugensexy, hey i with you on that! But the congressional committees make bills and agree to spend the money wanted by the president, or he can just usurp the Constitution and give money to whom ever he wants. If congress gets off its butte it can stop what is happening. Many years ago, I was an aid to a state senator after i came out of us marines first time , sir i got a first row seat on dirty politics. Why do politicians spent millions on a job that pays 200,000.00 ? one word 'money' more of it.

What this country needs is another President Atchison. He did such great things during his time in office.

It really makes no difference who you vote for. Elections only exist so that the population think that they have a say in how their country is run, when they don't. It makes them less likely to revolt and attempt to overthrow a dictator when they are misled into believing that their leader was democratically elected.
In reality, roughly the same group of people are running the show behind the scenes, regardless of who the current figurehead is. They keep the figurehead around for a few years so the public can direct all their anger at him, and then they switch the old face of government for a new one, just to keep people satisfied and hopeful. Then everyone gets annoyed with the new face, so they switch up again. And again... While everything that the people were angry about stays pretty much the same.
None of them can be trusted. They never fulfil their promises. The whole system is nothing but a performance to distract people from the fact that they are just as enslaved by their government as every other nation on earth. The illusion of free choice...

I would vote for a paperclip over Obama.
That said, until the people realize BOTH sides are worthless, we will never change.
I am fiscally conservative and socially libertarian. The answers for our society do not weight on taxing people to death.... It is a SPENDING problem, NOT a REVENUE problem.
And it is growing so tiring listening to liberals saying Bush got us into two wars... Please, do your research before spewing that garbage.... BOTH SIDES ARE DOING IT TO US.... Then when its convenient, the democrats back out and point the finger. Dont believe me? Watch this.... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSwSDvgw5Uc]Democrats, WMD's & The Iraq War - YouTube[/ame]
