Adderall XR dosage. Should it be raised, lowered or changed to Adderall IR
So basically I've been prescribed 15 mg adderall XR for about 4 months. At first it was good, but now my classes go longer and it wears off before my school day is done. And it doesn't seem to influence my studying at all after school, and I can definitely tell the difference on the weekends when I take it and study immediately compared to when it seems to be completely worn off after classes. Should I have my dosage upped, or lowered and split in two? Also, before I was prescribed XR I got a 20mg Adderall IR from a friend twice when studying for an exam. I felt high but incredibly focused and my grades were through the roof on both exams. (I only took one when studying not during the actual test). I don't get this high feeling with XR, but I'm also nowhere near as focused either. What should I tell my doctor? I know my dosage needs to be adjusted since it doesn't last all day, but how do I say it without sounding like I'm abusing it?

I don't really feel like anyone should be taking advice from blogs on yahoo answers about prescriptions lol =X

buuut...

I would tell your doctor just what you wrote here, that it seems to wear off before you get home from school. It sounds to me like you need a higher dosage, but see what (s)he says about it.

You are abusing it!!! Stop taking the easy option, adderell is like steroids, a drug that has both benefits and potentially very dangerous side effects and you are putting your health in harms way just because you want a higher grade in your exams. This drug is relatively new to the market, there are no long term reports of lifetime usage of adderall or ritalin yet people still insist on taking what could be potentially dangerous drug. At one time, people thought smoking was safe and woe betides the small minority of scientists who realised the truth - in 40 years time, we might see adderell in the same light, a dangerous drug that should never have seen the light of day - the American heart association is concerned about the effect on the heart and have suggested new guidlines for under 10 years olds with regards to perscribing adderell, while other countries have adopted a very strict approach - only America freely prescribes adderell to people, the rest of the world is being more cautious. It is after all a milder version of speed.
