What the heck? Adderall xr
I'm prescribed the drug, I took it about 9 am this morning, I have a huge midterm tomorrow, at around 5 pm I was falling asleep like crazy, and I was so completely not concentrate the least. So at 8 pm when I almost dozed off studying I decided to get an energy drink, I drank it and immediately woke up, which is an effect I usually never have with energy drinks (I used to drink 3 large ones in desperate times and 0 effect) but like an hour after that, after I finished the whole drink and had a bite to eat (bread) my heart started pounding, and when trying to walk my calve kept cramping in such a weird way, and my fingers in my left arm got tingly (it comes and goes now). It's been well over 14 hours now, my heart rate is upwards of 100 bpm what the hell?
Yes, but the doctor also told me that the drugs will be practically out of my system in 12 hours at most. So why is it that an energy drink after the 12 hour period is still affecting me like this?
How long till this goes away? It's been almost 16 hours now since I took the pill
I took sugar-free amp, granted, it was the first time I took that energy drink, I didn't chug it whatsoever if that makes a difference
I don't plan on sleeping tonight (big midterm tomorrow) My concern was with the way I feel right now, which is distracting me a little bit too much from my studies.
Oh, and I take no other drugs, ever, Adderall is the first really.

Taking Adderall extended release (XR) and then downing an energy drink will definitely get your heart rate up to an unsafe degree. Adderall is a stimulant. Caffeine and other ingredients in energy drinks are stimulants. Not good to mix them like that. The doctor will tell you that when you have ADD or ADHD (assuming you do which is why you were prescribed Adderall), energy drinks are a serious concern and should not be used. That's because they will affect you in a stronger way than other people. And coupled with your medication, energy drinks can be a serious health hazard. As you've found out, it will increase your heart rate and cause muscle cramping (especially in the calf for some reason). You need to monitor your heart rate because you don't want it to stay elevated like that. At 5:00 p.m., it might've been better to take an hour's nap and then continue with studying rather than take an energy drink.
If your symptoms persist, you should call the doctor or an ask a nurse healthline (if your insurance carrier has one) to find out what you should do. I'd be a little hesitant to take your morning dose of Adderall if you feel your heart rate is still up when you're ready to take it.
If you're a minor, you should tell your parents what happened so they can be aware of what's going on. I'm a little concerned that your symptoms have lasted so long. Your arm feeling tingly and the calf cramping are not symptoms to be ignored, nor is the heart rate.
**ADD**
In reply to your added comments -- I can't believe your doctor would tell you that. That's misleading information. Adderall XR can stay in your system working at least 24 hours and even up to 72 hours (it will show on a drug test up to 72 hours). That's why it's called extended release -- it releases the medicine slowly over time instead of all at once. That also means that it doesn't leave your system as quickly as non-extended release medications.
You don't mention your age so I'm not sure if you're taking college mid terms or high school mid terms. But if you're living at home, you need to talk to your parents about what's going on, now. Your heart rate should not be up that high for that long. You're taking a risk by not doing anything proactive.
Keep in mind, the average resting heart rate should be between 70 and 75 bpm. Yours is up and has been up for quite some time. You need to be concerned. You need to get medical advice from your doctor.

Ya I wouldn't do Adderall if I were you, even if it is prescription. I'm pretty sure its an amphetamine, so the drowsiness you were experiencing was probably a huge crash off of the drug. I'd lay off the Adderall personally

Amphetamines (Adderall is a euphemism) are extremely potent psychostimulants. The XR of extended release means that different parts of the medicine are digested by your body at different rates. 9 - 5 as a duration of effects is actually quite good performance for the drug, and you were probably starting to experience a "come down," which from amphetamines some might find unpleasant. Your energy drink was not a good idea. In fact, no energy drinks are so long as you are on adderall. There is a principle in neurology called potentiation. It describes how your nervous system when acted on by an external force (adderall, a stimulant) will gradually come to expect it and when acted on it again (by your energy drink, also a stimulant) will react more strongly than it had in the first place. What you just did is not good for your heart. My guess is that you are young and will be fine, but do not mix energy drinks and adderall again. I suggest tea. REgular old lipton or some of the more potent herbal blends will do you much better than all that x-TREME convenience store shit and you will find their effects to be less jittery and mind-jarring. try mate vanos. stuff kicks ass. stay off the caffeine and guarana bro!

Adderall is a mixture of amphetamine salts, so it will increase your heart rate. But, so will Red Bull.
How long have you been taking it? Do you take over the recommended dosage? Have you ever taken more than the recommended dosage? All of these things will cause heart rate to rise.
But, remember, Adderall is amphetamines, so that's kind of what it does.

it was probably the energy drinks. usually which one you drink makes a huge difference they are not all the same. guarana will keep me up for days, and some energy drinks, if you had 3, could be the equivalent of 10 or more cups of coffee (that would probably be lethal to me now). your symptoms are exactly what i've experienced.
you know these energy drink guys can push the boundaries, for heavens sake ephedrine was taken in handfuls like they were jelly beans (totally safe, etc) and it would keep people up for days before they started dying. i remember taking 10 No Doz as a 12 year old and basically having a near death experience. Sometimes your body chemistry on any given day doesn't react as much to it - but some days its vice versa and lookout...
what i'm saying is - post what you drank and how much or we'll never know. if it was red bull, no big deal. but others can be scary...
btw when you take way too much of *any* stimulant (natural, prescription or illegal, and then you need to take something to get you down (sleeping pills, etc) thats when your odds of heart attack go through the roof. (umm, heath ledger) so either suck it up and learn a new hobby tonight, or borrow an ambien (just *one*, not three) but watch it in the future, its not all black and white. some energy drinks should be banned.
3 months ago i drank five tall rockstars and was pretty juiced up, nice and on my game, but not that huge of a deal. did it again one month ago i swear i was 15 minutes away from calling 911. so you are not alone my friend. we do things we shouldn't and have to learn from them.
it will pass esp if you are young.
