Is there any harm drinking RedBull and taking Adderall

My doctor prescribed me Adderall earlier this week, 20MG twice a day. I immediately noticed the effects and it has really helped with school. Well, I am a devout drinker of RedBull; normally I drink two a day. I would really hate to quit drinking it! It's literally my breakfast on my way to my morning classes and my afternoon snack before my night classes. A friend told me I should only use one or the other, either Adderall or RedBull because both will speed up my heart rate. Any suggestions? Or am I ok using both daily?
I just don't want to fall over and have a heart attack on campus! lol, I am also a smoker, so I know that ups my risks in general. But my doctor knows all of my habits, so I'm sure he wouldn't have Rx'ed it to me knowing these things, right?

Now that your are on Adderall (which is a powerful stimulant) why would you need the Redbull?

Your friend is right that both Adderall and Red Bull are stimulants, and so is nicotine. In people with ADD / ADHD, stimulants actually act to calm them mentally, but I think the effect on the heart is still the same as with a non ADD person.

If your doctor is aware of your Red Bull intake, then you should be fine. You could mention it again just to be on the safe side, next time you see him / her.

I *would* suggest that you space it out a little...like, don't wash down your pill with a Red Bull while smoking a cigarette

I read a similar incident where a student drank Red Bull while on Adderall and experienced palpitations and shallow breathing. I agree that you might want to mention your Red Bull intake again to your doctor the next time you see him. But just in case you are already taking the drug and drinking Red Bull at the same time and had those symptoms I mentioned, you might want to take half of the Adderall first (if you're taking the short-acting form) and consult with your doctor immediately.

Consider drinking less RedBull now that your taking Adderall. Limit your daily RedBull consumption to 1 can a day.
