Adderall is a very strong drug, and you have to be careful with it. If you have ADD/ADHD it is supposed to SLOW DOWN that racing mess of confusion in your head. Now 20 mg is a WHOPPING dose!! Doctors are SUPPOSED TO start you with a small dose and then add to it IF NECESSARY. If you are accomplishing three days worth in one day, then you are taking too much, you are speeding, and you can get in big trouble. I mean BIG TROUBLE, the kind we're prone to. Don't speed. Take a half a pill. Take a quarter. I know at least one full grown man, 200#, mad crazy ADHD who only takes 5 mg and it works PERFECTLY. And he only takes it when he's decided what tasks he's going to accomplish. It works WAY better if you take the right dose, and it works way better if you take frequent vacations from it. Believe me, I know. I've been on it since 1997 and it changed my life. It's an incredibly useful but very powerful drug. But I skip weekends and every few months I stop taking it for a week. A couple times I stopped for a month. It might seem "hard" but - you want hard - go ahead and get addicted - THAT is some hard s**t!! Drug vacations keep my dose effective for me - I don't start needing more to get the same good result. And they keep me in touch with my unmedicated mind. A good thing for me, even if I do drive my family crazy over a break sometimes!! And if you aren't busy, take half. Cause the brain can get used to ANYthing you take - painkillers, amphetemines, whatever and build up tolerance. They are addictive drugs, even if you need them, but you can avoid the downfalls by playing it smart from the start. Then you'll always keep that "Hey! I can really do it! I can concentrate and I can complete tasks and the world finally works for me!" feeling. It's precious, don't play with it. Or you may find that the gods will strike you down - that's what they seem to do if people use the good stuff for the wrong reasons!!! Good luck in your new life.
