I've recently been prescribed adderall xr for adhd, but by 2pm i'm tired and can't focus. is this normal
hello there.... i'm new to this so hopefully someone will be able to provide me with a little guidance. i've recently been prescribed adderall xr for adhd. the doctor started me on 10 mg twice in the morning. it has helped with concentration during the first part of the work day, by 2pm i've noticed i begin to get tired and start losing focus, forgeting the names of clients, and staring into the office in the building next door. is this normal? am i on the proper dosage? i'm afraid to ask my doctor because of all the controversy surrounding the medication. and information would be extremely helpful and much appreciated. thanks!

It's perfectly normal to get tired later in the day. It happens at the dosage wears off. You might want to tell you doctor about this. 10mg is not a big dose. Sometimes they will give you a small amount of regular Adderall to bridge the gap.

I'll start by saying i was on adderal for 3 years (10mg once daily) and i am very much against it. It does damage to the mind ( as all amphetamines do). As to your question, with adderal xr you should not be tired by 2pm. The medication should last all day. You need to ask your doctor about dosing information. As to the staring at the building, that is an affect of amphetamines. Crystal meth users stare when they start to come down, and in all honesty there isnt much difference in the two drugs.(other than adderal is chemically safer, because produced in a clean environment by professionals). My strong opinion is to stop taking it. If you insist on taking the drug, you probably need a stronger dosage if it is wearing off that quickly.
