I looked through the USPS FAQ and did a Google search, it appears it could mean anything from they couldn't read the address and had to research it, to they simply forgot to send it along in the shipment it was supposed to go in, or it was shipped to the wrong sort facility and is now being re-routed to the right one.
It's on it's way to your city, so I wouldn't be worried. It appears to be an internal fubar, but is now back on track.

Yup. I threw a nutty once myself when I was tracking a shipment that originated in Californ-I-A, shipped all the way to a regional hub somewhere in Colorado.....and then all the way back to the west coast..mind you, I live on the east coast, so it's not like they missed one digit on the zip code...I couldn't believe it, I just stared at my laptop screen and then threw the worst temper tantrum ever.... If I had run into a mail man that day, the term "going postal" might have been re-defined. I really needed that shipment, too. Not a good weekend, let me tell you. It took a week to bloody well get here.
just had same problem as well..it was sent to san diego than sent back to where it orginiated in chula vista or some shit like that in california ..it was suppose to be overnighted to me today but never came so i called ups who said there online tracking is behind and that it is on its way tomorrow an that its not still in california..
has anyone had that problem where ups tracking was behind and that the package still arrived the day ups customer service told you?...its already one day late
its so weird that the package is in my home town now..on truck out for delivery..wow talk about missing a few scans
I think during this time of year all the delivery companies miss scans from time to time. I am not 100%, but it just seems that way.
Lisa , yes it does happen , i dont think you can go by a trac all the time as you say
