I'm trying to figure out why mine went from isc to the usual Beth ny. Says it departed 17 days ago lol . I don't even wanna order any more only thing that came for me is the Di hydros from p4u 7 days exact airsure. Registered mail takes forever and now all my letters n pictures are stuck in isc theybsay they departed but I would have receovrd them by now imo. Over 20 plus days and nlthing on the one letter not looking good. Hope everyone gets there letters. Sucks waiting not that i need em right away but just the fact I see everyday it's departed from isc or Beth and still don't have any letters. Very frustrating.

U guys call it "hell" and your packages have been there for 2 days?? Try waiting nearly a month. Relax, if after 7-8 days it's still there then let us know.

Sorry guys. I did'nt mean to snap at you. i'm just saying, 3-5 days in this facility is the norm. I understand when the panic sets in and you just want to know where the hell your package is.

And the picture of the conveyor belt looks like a complete nightmare system. "I think I saw my Package go by" lmfao

Wow, mine just landed at a sort facility about 100 miles from my house. Guess it had a nice plane ride from Massatwoshitz.
This looks promising for an arrival at my domicile tomorrow. if it does get delivered tomorrow, it will be 7 days total from ship in the UK to arrival.

I wouldn't think that foreign postal services do anything to optimize exactly where your package lands in the destination country. All they really care about is that it arrives in the correct nation, then the domestic postal service handles it from there.

So most likely, they just throw the containers of international mail onto the next available plane departing from the airport near the sort facility to the US. And in a lot of cases, those flights are going to NY (regardless of where the origin country is.)

Sorting mailpieces to go to ports nearest the recipient would be a big logistics effort without much of a significant return...they have better ways to use their resources (if they exist). That is what we have domestic sort facilities for.

don't know if this includes my post- but since mine passed through NY and now it's in NJ, i'm wondering if there is also back-up there? i recieved an arrival and departure update. i've never seen it make a stop between the first sorting facility and my home state- so this is all completely new to me.

USPS tested out a new way to route international mail, it failed, and now they have a backlog because of it. The backlog is breaking up and people are now slowly receiving their packages. Nothing sinister about it. This info was provided by Kelly (can't remember his full username) & his wife has a high-up position w/ USPS.

I have had packages sit there for SIXTEEN DAYS one time and FIVE DAYS the other time - trust me these waits have become commonplace - I started this thread, and have monitored it VERY CLOSELY. NO ONE has received Love Letters - All the packages have arrived EVENTUALLY - these waits are just something that we may have to plan for in advance - @Kelly15120's wife works with the Higher Ups at USPS - if you have questions direct them to her. Her answers have been spot on! Thank you for your help!

Thanks crucibelle. Ive been keeping up with this thread, I just think if this was going on on such a massive scale, other online industries would be affected, and there would be some news coverage of the subject. Other than what I read on this thread, there is hardly anything, except on forums similar to this, almost like iop's are being singled out for this. I would think this would affect everyone, not just people on these kinds of forums, and you would think there would be some news coverage of the issue

update:, my order of books has made it through the isc, to a sort facilkity near my house. I still think its weird that people here seem to be having so much trouble and there is no news coverage. Keep up the faith folks, seems like kittsoan is right, just be patient, I have been waiting over a month, but its almost here!

As one who, unfortunately, did not plan in advance, I'm reading up and stocking up on the suggestions in the "survival kit" thread.

I agree... but it could be that this is being kept out of the news on purpose, and if that is what you meant by something sinister going on, I would say it's a definite possibility. They are government run, after all, and we know how that goes. I think Kelly posted an article somewhere on this thread (or maybe elsewhere on the forum).. IF I remember correctly. I know that Ebayers are having the same problem we all are, but that is the extent of what I've heard outside of here.

well here is the skinny poop on the matter from my perspective....I have peeped in on this thread and while I haven't read it completely...I mean "Art Vandalay'?....really?
Nevermind. I tracked my packgtrkr and it has said that the item passed through the NY NY eyeesseee, now, I went one step further and did an extensive/pdf reading/labour intensive search....insomnia is goof for somethings after all, and was able to conclude:“Electronic Shipping Info Received” – This scan indicates that the shipper has notified the Postal Service™ that they intend to submit the item for processing and delivery.
Acceptance]” –This scan indicates that a Postal Service employee has accepted the item at a post office or that the carrier has picked up the item at a customer’s residence/business.
Processed Through Sort Facility” – This scan indicates that the item has processed through and left a Postal Service processing facility. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
Arrival at Unit” – This scan indicates that the item was scanned at the final postal unit where delivery of the item will take place.
Processing Complete” – This scan indicates, for Delivery Confirmation™, Signature Confirmation™, and Express Mail® services, that the item has arrived at the Post Office™ for delivery.
Out-for-Delivery” - This scan indicates that the item has been given to a carrier for delivery to its final destination or placed in the customer’s Post Office Box.
Notice Left” – This scan indicates that the item is ready for pickup at the Post Office. If it is unclaimed after a certain number of days it will be returned to the sender.
Delivered” – This scan indicates that the item has been picked up by or delivered to the final recipient.
Refused” – This scan indicates that the item was refused by the recipient at the final delivery address and will be returned to the sender.
Forwarded” – This scan indicates that the item has been forwarded to a different address. This is due to forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code™ on the item was incorrect.

This comes from Uncle Sam himherself (wow, I just looked outside and it snowing something fierce)...my package has been at the Processed Through Sort Facility for a few days now and when I look at a universal integrated tracking system my Status reads "In Transit" the item is on it's way to it's destination. As of fri. 6:12 a.m. from what I can tell is that the mail is in the bag.
I think it important to note that I have never seen any of the other messages that seem to commonly pop up on other peoples orders, I can only assume that the item cleared Customs because I am being told that is sur la route.
I would like to believe that this is the case...only time will tell. However, in the spirit of keeping this very long and informative yet sometimes wiley thread true to form, can any of you look at the information that I have provided and throw in their dos centavos?

My current time line for this order is as follows:
    A. Monday 2/5/12 order submitted
    B. Tuesday 2/6/12 money received
    C. Wednesday 2/7/12 item passed to Royal Mail
    D. Friday 2/9/12 item Passed through NY at 6:12 a.m.
Ergo, one can only make the assumption that the little ****ers will be here in a day or two, USPS is not very forthcoming with this particular transaction and I am aware of tracking because of my business, I often track sent and ordered items from EBay.

I hope this helps someone....and say a little prayer for my package, we are getting a big snowstorm just the now and I am currently living out at our old farm house in the boonies.

After reading your post, I feel a little better about the "Processed Through Sort Facility" definition of having left the facility.

Until I came across this forum, I felt good having read many other post in many other forums and sites regarding this facility.

I had come to the conclusion that it was on it's way due to many of the posts saying the the item arrived to the buyers home and the NY facility Processed Through Sort Facility message was still there.

(They received the package without any updates to the tracking)

After reading this thread however I wonder what has become of the parcel. Only for the fact that my item arrived from the UK to the NY facility on the same plane as members and was scanned in only ten-twenty minutes before theirs and their tracking has updated while my info has stayed the same.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated... I appreciate it!!

    SPIRIT CRUSHING UPDATE!!!

I called the usps toll free number and tried to process the TRK#, the computerized feminie vocal representation on the other end told me that no information was available for this item and suggested that I call my local PO which I did. The man at the PO looked oh HIS computer and said that it is in CUSTOMS...that EYE"S"see IS customs...this is all very confusing. I have two different online tracking systems telling me that my package is en route and a POST MASTER telling me that his company is giving me bad information.....now this is truly representative of what the whole Bureaucracy Mythos is all about....on hand is not washing the other...I shudder to think of what that hand is really doing.

@RahoulDuke -- There is a live person you can talk to at USPS, too... this representative is specifically available for questions about international pkg tracking. You must call them during their business hours, or you will get a recorded message. I don't remember the phone #, but I will try to find it.

*This post was auto-merged. The following text was added 4 minutes after the last post:*

Ok, I found my post that had the phone # in it... also, when you call you will first get a recording. You need to choose 'other' on the menu to speak to a live rep. I just copied and pasted this info from another post of mine. This may work for you, or not. I know that this rep. was able to tell me exactly where my package was when I called them a couple of months ago:

    Here is the number: 1-800-222-1811

    Here are their hours:

Monday thru Friday: 8:00 am to 8:30 pm ET
Saturday: 8:00 am to 6:00 pm ET
    Closed on Sundays and Holidays.
