Is package in the clear?

I made an order recently and it came with a tracking number. Its a RoyalMail/USPS tracking number. It has made it to the USA I can infer because it USPS status says:

Processed Through Sort Facility

Your item has been processed through our sort facility in ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) at 2:19 am on June 10, 2012.

Now in anyone's experience does this mean it has likely cleared customs, or is it just mean it has been received by the USPS?

And in anyone's experience, how long is it between getting that message and delivery of the package?

Well after a bit of google time and from my own experiences, it has gotten past customs. It's now at one of the large international shipping hubs and getting ready to head your way. I can't say for the rest of the shipping times because I've read on here that people have had to wait days and longer for it to leave that place. For me it left in about a day but I'm very close by so take that with a grain of salt i suppose. I think there is a thread lurking around here somewhere about this place.

Yes in 3 to 5 days it should update to DEPARTED sort facility.
Then it's cleared.

From what I understand, the information regarding your item's status is affectionately known here at the forum as "purgatory". It apparently takes its sweet time passing through this international processing area, sometimes at a decent pace and sometimes WEEKS. From what I gleaned from reviewing the posts, the area in which you speak means your letter is "in" customs not necessarily "through" customs. Other members, [ @sophie30 , etc] please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but that's my understanding [or should I need to edit my post]. From here on to another relatively close processing hub and then, according to your zip, onward to your address. I have a package waiting as well so I've been interested too. Scanned, not scanned, tracking posted, tracking not posted---so many distinct situations and so many differing personal accounts. If you haven't already, do read the lengthy:

Well it's not a controlled substance so its not a huge issue, but from my understanding that does not mean it can't fail to clear. And changing the time...yes that probably would have been a clever idea.

Well, controlled substance or not it's still drug importation and will be treated like any other parcel entering the country and crawl it's way through customs/border patrol. I know, the whole 90 day personal use thing and such and very glad it's in place for folks to order from reputable vendors at much lower prices (especially the senior members on fixed/limited incomes). I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's my understanding that US Customs officers/Border Patrol agents don't have extensive pharmaceutical knowledge/background to really (nor the manpower) get into the nitty-gritty of packages unless they're really poorly packaged, arrive from flagged locations, leaking "white" powder (you get my drift), unusually heavy or odd for their declaration, etc. [Or just blatantly obvious] By this I mean they're not going to be able to pick up a tablet from the facility floor and automatically know it's a Schedule IV benzo by sight. I truly mean this as NO slam to Customs Agents at all cause they're way overworked as it is. ANYTHING can happen and they can choose to inspect any article they deem suspicious. Besides, they've got access to K9s to sniff out the "bad" stuff and portable on-the-spot testing kits to test a sample of a leaking/spilled substance for an initial identification. You know, the kind the cops use when they suspect crack, cocaine, etc. I actually feel kind of sorry for them cause all those packages to receive and review would be beyond a daunting task! Anyway @ryan424242, I think you did ask a good question regarding your package but my take home message would be to just read and read the threads and posts and allow yourself some sense of relief. Again, just my opinion and two cents worth.
