This is actually a valid point.
And many times..in fact most of the times, the helpful and like ratings aren't given to the posts that are deserving of them..so the ones that are, kinda don't really count anyway.
You could tell yourself that it's not all about pips, and that people will still see that you're posts have gained attention from others.
I suppose when you get to the senior section, it doesn't really matter, but I can see how it would for a junior, trying to make their way up.

Timezones play a part in this too, for instance..I normally post in the morning, and that's when i'm active in most conversations, but usually, most here have been here for a few hours already, and so anything I post doesn't get rated (officially) where as if I post really late at night, like 12-1am it does make a big difference..

Now and again i'll get a load of notifications of a ratings for something i've posted months ago, and it's only those that seem to make any difference, and see a big rise in rep.
Most ratings are given when a conversation is actively going on, and i'm just not here the same times as everyone else is.

Anyway, that was just me thinking out loud....if you think about this stuff too much, you'll be on your way to a padded cell before long, and lifes too short
Interesting post @Jellyfish IMHO; I had to give this a helpful!

I am guilty of giving out way too many reps, but I like a lot of what I read, or want to show support but have nothing to add. I figure it all evens out and gets distributed around evenly, theory of randomness, right?

Luckily being a nice community here I find it easiest just to get into a conversation with someone then suddenly your post count is increasing without you even noticing

It turns out that I was wrong. I believe I got the reputation points first, I will have the 60 post soon, and will end up waiting for the 30 days.

I must be the complete opposite, it's probably why I prefer the larger communities I look through these forums trying to get involved but often it's in topics that I cannot relate to.

Yeah, I don't find many conversations I can jump into either. Then again, I'm not good at that sort of thing anyway. I'm more of a quiet listener who will throw in a comment or two here and there. ...Maybe there should be more off topic categories- like threads devoted to discussing your favourite tv series and stuff like that. Because we can't really talk about where to get good quality such-and-such medication from a reputable seller in the general forum anyway.

I just looked and I have actually only been here for a few weeks. Time flys by I guess when your talking. There are a bunch of different forum topics there is bound to be some that you could take interest to.

@distracted Perhaps you could start a thread in the Off Topic forum about TV shows? There are many threads in that forum with all manner of subject matter. Since the Off Topic forum is way down at the bottom of the list, it took me awhile to even notice it was there!

I'd post on a TV thread.

Which I might atctually have a lot to post about, since I only watch US shows.

There's also a gaming thread, which I was quite looking forward to posting on, but that kinda never got updated, it's there though.
There's a book thread, various game threads, job thread, car thread, and plenty of other subjects.

You might have to dig them out from a few pages in, but they're there, and once ones revived, you'll find people start posting on them again.

You should start an off topic thread that you are interested in. Oops looks like I am late to the party. Everyone has already suggested that

Just my 2¢, but here is how I made it to "Senior Status."

1.) Look at all the sub-forums. Anything you can contribute based on personal experience will generally be found helpful by others, even if you're not an expert.

2.) If you don't know much about what the poster is asking, go ahead and do the research for them. Use Wikipedia, Google, Drugs.com, etc. Then direct the poster to the links so that if they desire more in depth information, they can easily find it.

3.) Always recommend talking to a Dr. before recommending any sort of self-medicating.

4.) Be creative. I started or contributed to threads on poetry, music, books, film, lucid dreaming, breathing techniques, Western Esotericism, etc. These are just my topics of interest and I found that others were interested in at least some of these topics as well.

5.) Just try to be helpful but not pushy. As the Beatles said, "In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" (or give).

6.) I almost forgot this one; I had to edit it in. Any time you make a purchase from a vendor, whether small or large, report your experience to the community. Every vendor review helps others decide who to purchase their medication from, and your review may make the difference between people getting their medication vs. losing a bundle of cash.

I've been here a year and only have 40 posts. But they are 40 good posts, not spam. I am very busy and only have limited time to get on the boards, but I'm still making my up. I have the rep and time under me, now it's just a few more posts.

That's worth more than two cents.

Even if just one person found it helpful, and you only got one click, without being an expert, you just might have had a positive life altering impact on somebody. You might not even know it. Probably won't.

But the satisfaction you obtain, and the appreciation you've gained, could be priceless.

    I'm struggling, as well.

I like this board, and I like the members. It seems much better than the old board many of us used to post on.

And, it's understandable to make people "pay their dues" prior to going to a senior area...however, it's a bummer for someone like me who used to be a VIP on the other board and now I have to start over. I rarely order stuff like this online so I'm not as well-versed as others are in giving advice. I say what I can and I try to help, but it takes a lot of time to scroll through the threads and sometimes I just can't give that much time up out of a day.

Plus, what if you just don't have anything useful to say? I have read many threads that I don't know anything about, or, even if I did, I'd be repeating things other users had said and that seems ridiculous.

So, praise for the way this board is being run, but 60 posts seems like a lot. Maybe not to the people who have already reached that. But...it's going to take me a while to get there!

How about maybe just something funny or some observation? Start a thread on something that interests you. I bet if you started a thread on here titled "I like cookies" you would have half a dozen people respond, like your post, and start a new conversation. I know people are busy but for me this is cathartic and helps me relax since I spend the better portion of my day with a baby and a squawk box toddler (they typically do not have any online pharmacy advice for me)

@emerald, when I first started here, I signed up and completely forgot about it til I was looking through my bookmarks like a month later. So I came back, and realized not only did I want senior access, I wanted to be part of the community and get to know people. So I started a thread 'tell me one thing about yourself', people told me the most random funny, sad, and honest things. I responded to any that I had any knowledge, experience or questions about. Within two days I was a senior member. My point is, you don't have to have a ton of knowledge, a lot of people come here for precisely that reason. Just get to know people and it will come. Good luck
